Daily itinerary

Day 1 - Lake Bogoria

After exiting the customs and immigration office, kindly look out for Sureway Tour's representative with your names. A short introduction will follow, together with a tour briefing. If your arrival is early during the day, the tour may start on the same day but if not, hotel arrangements will be made at an extra fee as Lake Bogoria is 242 kilometers from Nairobi.

Lake Bogoria has an incredible number of flamingos, there are also hundreds of other bird species as well as a very good deal of raptors. The raptors of Lake Bogoria hunt the abundant flamingos and you can expect to see plenty of steppe eagle and tawny eagle. You can see up to eight of these eagles in a single tree.

You should also look out for the African fish eagle hovering and diving down on the flamingos. There are no fish in this lake due to the alkalinity of the water and the fish eagle has adapted its diet to the environment and become an expert flamingo killer.

The marabou stork is another fearsome predator that has an intriguingly calm method of stalking the hapless flamingos. It singles out the weakest one and follows it on foot, waiting for the right moment to go in for the kill.

For this Lake Bogoria safari tour, you will have dinner and an overnight stay at Sentrim Elementaita Lodge.

Day 2 - Maasai Mara Game Reserve

On this day, you will have a drive to the Maasai Mara Game Reserve which offers wonderful scenery and plenty of game. It is perhaps the only region left in Kenya where the visitor may see animals in the same super-abundance as they existed a century ago. You will then go back to your lodge in time for lunch. After lunch, you will have an afternoon game drive until sunset. You will then have dinner and overnight at Sentrim Mara Lodge.

Here in Mara, you can see the most spectacular event of the natural world takes place. The annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra from the Serengeti (Tanzania) in search of water and pasture is a majestic event of nature. Following on their heels are the predators of the Savannah: lion, leopard, cheetah, wild dog, jackal, hyena, and vultures.

Day 3 - Maasai Mara

You will spend the whole day in Maasai Mara with morning and afternoon game drives, so don’t forget your check-list and look out for the lions, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, giraffe, buffalo, warthogs, hyenas, jackals, wild dogs, leopard, elephant, antelopes, birds and shrubs, and of course, the wildebeests and zebras. You will have dinner and overnight at Sentrim Mara Lodge.

Day 4 - Mara to Nairobi

After breakfast, you will have a drive back to Nairobi, Kenya’s colorful capital city. You will arrive at Nairobi at 15:00 and will then be transferred to the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) for your flight or should you wish to spend a night in Nairobi, hotel reservations will be arranged for an extra charge.

On this safari, you will visit Lake Bogoria and Maasai Mara National Reserve to see the abundance of wildlife.

You will visit two different places: Lake Bogoria and Maasai Mara National Reserve.

Lake Bogoria

You won’t see many sights as mesmerising as Lake Bogoria, a national reserve known as “the jewel of the Rift Valley”. The lake’s pink-tinged shores are volcanic, with bubbling thermal springs and steaming geysers, home to massive flocks of flamingos. You’ll find an abundance of bird species thriving here, as well as East Africa’s largest herd of rare greater kudu. You may also visit the equator point.

Maasai Mara National Reserve

The Maasai Mara is a large game reserve in South-West Kenya. The name is derived from Maasai people and the Mara River, which divides it into eastern and western parts. The extensive savanna grassland in between the rolling hills hosts a large variety of wild animals.

Every year, about two and a half million wildebeests and hundred thousands of zebras wander through the Maasai Mara from June to October on their great migration between the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania and Maasai Mara in Kenya.
