During this safari, you will stay at various accommodations namely:
You will arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO), Nairobi, where you will be met by your company representative. You will then be transferred to your town hotel for overnight.
After a hearty breakfast, you will depart on safari in your custom built 4x4 Landcruiser with your private and well-experienced driver / guide. You will pass lush green coffee / tea plantations and the equator on your way to the Mount Kenya. You will arrive at Serena Mountain Lodge in time for lunch. On the afternoon, you can participate in a guided walk which can be booked upon arrival, or relax in the tree lodge and watch a variety of wildlife from your balcony. Dinner and overnight will be at the Serena Mountain Lodge.
After breakfast, you will continue on to the semi-arid desert reserve of Samburu. Situated in the northern hemisphere of Kenya, this is one the loveliest parks in terms of landscape and wildlife where you will have the chance to see rare animals such as the Grevy zebra, the long necked gerenuk, Somali ostrich, the reticulated giraffe, and beisa oryx. After lunch, you will enjoy an extensive game drive through the reserve. Dinner and overnight will be at Samburu Lodge.
You will have early morning and afternoon game drives in Samburu with a good chance of seeing the Samburu Big Five and the elusive leopard as well as lion and cheetah. Should you wish to go out at other times or stay out longer, you are free to request your guide for additional game drives and he will be happy to fulfill your wishes. All meals and overnight will be at Samburu Lodge.
You will have breakfast and en-route game drive out of the reserve. You will continue to Sweetwaters Game Sanctuary situated in the Mount Kenya Region arriving in time for lunch. With a little bit of luck, you may capture an unprecedented view of the majestic Mount Kenya itself. You will have an afternoon game drive in the sanctuary which boasts a large number of elephant, giraffe, warthog, buffalo, and much more. Dinner and overnight will be at Sweetwaters Tented Camp.
You will spend the day in the reserve and visit the chimpanzees. It is the only place in Kenya where you can observe these intelligent primates. You will walk a little further and you will come face to face with “Morani”, the semi-tame rhino that you can touch. All meals and overnight will be at Sweetwaters Tented Camp.
You will depart from Sweetwaters in the morning to Lake Nakuru National Park, driving past the silhouette of the Aberdare Mountain Range with a brief stop at Thompons’s waterfalls. After a hearty lunch at Flamingo Hill Camp, it will be time to go in search of rhino, leopard, and lion. Dinner and overnight will be at Flamingo Hill Camp.
You will spend another exciting day in this lovely park. Each game drive offers a new perspective and new sights. You will visit the Makalia Falls and enjoy a picnic if you like in the great outdoors instead of having lunch at camp. Dinner and overnight will be at Flamingo Hill Camp.
After breakfast, you will set off for the Maasai Mara Game Reserve which you will reach in time for lunch. You will discover the fascinating world of Kenya’s finest game viewing area, consisting of grasslands, savannah, woodland, and acacia forest. This eco-system contains thousands of animals including buffalo, lion, gnu, and many species of antelope. In fact, it has the highest concentration of land mammals in Africa. All meals and overnight will be at Mara Bush Camp.
You will enjoy the panoramic views and the bountiful wildlife at the reserve. You will the opportunity to go on an early morning game drive, have breakfast at the lodge, take a picnic lunch to the hippo pools or enjoy a relaxing sundowner safari. The choice is yours and let your guide know to make it possible. Dinner and overnight will be at Mara Bush Camp.
You will have your last breakfast in Maasai Mara before you depart with a game drive en-route via the Maasai town of Narok to Lake Naivasha. You will arrive at your designated lodge in time for lunch. In the afternoon, you will have an option either to relax or going for a walk on the wildlife-infested Crescent Island, situated in the middle of the fresh water lake. It is quite an experience to walk amongst giraffe, antelope, wildebeest, and gives you a new perspective of nature and animals close up on foot. Dinner and overnight will be at Lake Naivasha Country Club or Naivasha Sopa Lodge.
You will enjoy a leisurely breakfast and depart by the latest at 10:30, driving along the scenic Great Rift Valley to Nairobi. After an early lunch at the Carnivore restaurant, where you can sample barbecue meat, you will continue to the famous Amboseli National Park, situated south of Nairobi. You will go for a game drive en-route to your safari lodge. Dinner and overnight will be at Amboseli Serena Lodge.
You will get up before sunrise to get a glimpse of the majestic snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro before setting off on your morning game drive. This is the best time of day to see the mountain and animals of prey hunting. After breakfast, you can either relax at the pool or simply set off on another game drive. You will soon realize why this park is known as a paradise for elephants. Dinner and overnight will be at Amboseli Serena Lodge.
You will have breakfast at your lodge and depart by 08:00 for Tsavo West National Park, passing Sheitani, the largest lava flow in the world. Tsavo West is one of the world’s largest national parks and the landscape is dominated by brick red soil and scenic mountain ranges. You will arrive at Kilaguni Serena Lodge in time for lunch.
The lodge is built overlooking a large waterhole with panoramic views the nearby Chyulu Hills and Mount Kilimanjaro from a different side. Whilst enjoying a delicious buffet lunch, Serena style, you may be able to see various animals from the terrace. On the afternoon, you will go for your first game drive in the park where the grand looking, endangered Lesser Kudu Antelope is found. Dinner and overnight will be at Kilaguni Serena Lodge.
You will have breakfast at the lodge and then visit the paradise oasis of Mzima Springs. Crocodile and hippo live here and an underwater viewing chamber enables you to look them in the eye. You will walk through this green and lush forest and enjoy the coolness of the spring. After lunch, you will go for another game drive in the park. Dinner and overnight will be at Kilaguni Serena Lodge.
After breakfast, you will depart for Nairobi to arrive early afternoon. Depending on your onward program, Sunworld Safaris will either transfer you to the airport for your domestic flight, to your booked beach holiday, or to the international airport for your return flight back home.
Meals will be served during your safari on full board basis. Kenya offers an assortment of quality beef and seafood dishes, supplemented by an array of tropical fruits and vegetables. Portions tend to be generous, and elaborate buffets are common at hotels and lodges. Even the more expensive restaurants are reasonable by American and European standards.
