Panafric Hotel

Panafric Hotel is located idyllically 5 minutes from Nairobi CBD and only 18 kilometers from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO).

Samburu Sopa Lodge

Located inside the Samburu National Reserve in Northern Kenya, Samburu Sopa lodge is built atop high ground allowing panoramic views of the vastness of Samburu shrub land and the hills beyond. The lodge is built to reflect the architectural heritage of the local communities whose sons and daughters make up the majority of the workforce at the lodge.

Fifteen cottages, each with two bedrooms are built in an arch formation on either side of the public areas to surround the waterhole but leaving a wide gap to allow the animals free movement to the water. The lodge is located within Samburu National Reserve (approximately 300 kilometers from Nairobi)

Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge

Lake Nakuru Lodge is a beautiful eco-lodge situated inside Lake Nakuru National Park, boasting unobstructed views of the lake and wildlife. This property also has one of the best-rated locations in Nakuru. It offers accommodation with free Wi-Fi, a seating area, and a flat-screen TV. There is a private bathroom with a bath and free toiletries in each unit, along with a hairdryer.

Sweetwaters Tented Camp

A sheltered oasis, clustered around a waterhole, Sweetwaters Tented Camp is in a class of its own. Naivasha Sopa Lodge

Set in 150 acres of grassland studded with Acacia bushes and trees, the resort is not only home to resident giraffes, water-bucks and both Vervet and Colobus monkeys, but it is also a night stop for the hippos when they leave the lake every night to come and trim the grass on expansive lawns.

Mara Sopa Lodge

Located high on the slopes of the Oloolaimutia Hills, Masai Mara Sopa Lodge was one of the first safari lodges to be built in the Maasai Mara Game Reserve, a reason why its gardens and trees are so lush and mature. All the buildings follow the design of traditional African round houses with conical roofs, and these stretch along the line of the hills with the impressively large public area buildings and the swimming pool at their center.

Masai Mara is the new seventh wonder of the modern world, famous for the migration of wilder beasts. The camp is located approximately 250 kilometers from Nairobi.

Program

Day 1: Arrival

Meet and greet upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) by StarLuck Travel's representative and transferred to Panafric Hotel for overnight on a bed and breakfast basis.

Day 2: Nairobi to Samburu Game Reserve

  • 320 kilometers - approximately 5-6 hours' drive

After breakfast, you drive north of Nairobi passing through the Equator and the majestic Mount Kenya en-route to the open savannah of Samburu Game Reserve. Arrive in time for lunch at Samburu Sopa Lodge. After lunch, you will have some time to relax before you go for an evening game drive. Come back to your accommodation for dinner and overnight.

It is an area where the local people have a rich and colorful heritage. The reserve has a wealth of wildlife which include leopards, hippos, elephants, lions, grevy zebras and crocodiles in the Ewaso Nyiro River. Over 365 species of birds have been identified in the reserve.

Day 3: Samburu Game Reserve - Full day game drives

Spend the whole day exploring the park with an optional visit to the Samburu Village at 20 USD per person later in the day.

Samburu is home to a third of Kenya's giraffe species; the rare Reticulated Giraffe (only found in the Northern parks). This is also where you see the blue-legged Somali Ostrich, Grevy zebras, the long-necked Gerenuk gazelle, and the straight-horned Beisa Oryx antelope.

Day 4: Samburu National Reserve to Ol Pejeta Conservancy

  • 180 kilometers - approximately 3 hours' drive

After breakfast, you drive to the Ol Pejeta. The conservancy is located on the equator, between the foothills of the Aberdares and the magnificent snow-capped Mount Kenya. The conservancy boasts excellent game viewing with the largest wildlife to area ratio compared to any other Kenyan National Park. You will get to the ranch in time for morning game drive and also early lunch at Sweetwaters Tented Camp.

A game drive at Ol Pejeta will include a visit to Chimpanzee Sanctuary which provides a haven for orphaned, abandoned and rescued chimpanzees and Rhino Sanctuaries which provides a home to two of the world’s last remaining northern white rhinos, and a sanctuary for over 110 critically endangered black rhinos. Ol Pejeta is home to the “Big Five” and more than a thousand different mammals and bird species roam the wild.

Day 5: Ol Pejeta Conservancy to Lake Naivasha

  • 230 kilometers - approximately 4 hours' drive

Rise early for a game drive and then return for breakfast and check out. Depart for Naivasha, stopping for picnic lunch en-route. On the way, you will stop for views of the beautiful Thomson Falls. Arrive in Lake Naivasha late in the afternoon. Enjoy boat rides at Lake Naivasha where you can spot hippos as well as a variety of birds common to this area. Proceed to your accommodation for dinner and overnight.

Lake Naivasha is one of the freshwater lakes in the Great Rift Valley. The lake has a dense population of hippos and birds. Other attractions include a visit to the Hell’s Gate National Park to explore gorges, climb rocks, view wildlife, and enjoy a nature walks; Ol Karia Geothermal Spa which has a naturally heated water and is a great recreation spot and Crescent Island which is about 15 minutes by boat away from the shores of Lake Naivasha and is one of the few places where you can enjoy a nature walk alongside wild animals among many other activities.

Day 6: Lake Naivasha to Maasai Mara Game Reserve

  • 240 kilometers - approximately 4-5 hours' drive

After breakfast, depart Lake Naivasha for the Maasai Mara arriving in time for lunch at your camp. Relax in the camp after lunch till 4 p.m. Leave for a late afternoon game drive returning before dusk for dinner and your overnight stay.

The Maasai Mara offers wildlife in such variety and abundance that it is difficult to comprehend – indeed, over 450 species of animals have been recorded here! You will easily spot lions, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, giraffe, wildebeests, zebras, buffalos, warthogs, hyenas, jackals, wild dogs, leopards, many kinds of antelopes and elephants. It is in the Mara that perhaps the most spectacular event of the natural world takes place: the annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra from the Serengeti (Tanzania) in search of water and pasture. Following on their heels are the predators of the savanna - lion, cheetah, wild dog, jackal, hyena, and vultures.

Day 7: Maasai Mara National Reserve (Full day game drives)

Enjoy a full day game viewing with picnic lunch on the Mara River over-looking the Hippo Pools and the savannah.

In addition to the game drive offerings, you can also decide to take an optional hot air balloon ride (420 USD per person); or visit a local Maasai village (20 USD per person). Return to the camp for dinner and overnight.

Maasai warriors are famously known as the proud nomadic tribe whose legendary prowess in battle and single-handed acts of bravery in fights with the wild animals are known across the world. A visit reveals the singing and dancing that are part of their daily lives and sacred rituals. A glimpse into their homes and social structure is a poignant experience.

Day 7: Maasai Mara Game Reserve to Nairobi

  • 265 kilometers - approximately 5-6 hours' drive)

After breakfast leave lodge for Nairobi arriving in the afternoon. You will be dropped to Panafric Hotel for overnight.

  • Optional activities: You may opt to take your dinner at the famous Carnivore Restaurant for Game Meat - 30 USD.

Day 8: Drop off at the airport

Breakfast at the hotel. Day at leisure and doing last-minute shopping. Later transferred to the airport for your international departure flight.

This marks the end of the safari full of unforgettable memories.

The highlights of Samburu Game Reserve is the spectacular scenic beauty, rivers, and forests. It is an area where the local people have a rich and colorful heritage.

The reserves have numerous permanent springs and a wealth of wildlife which includes leopard, hippo, elephant, lion, Grevy zebra, and crocodile in the Ewaso Nyiro River. Over 365 species of birds have been identified in the reserve.

Naivasha

The dusty, stunning plains of Naivasha make a tour of the Great Rift Valley priceless. Dozens of attractions dot this magnificent gorge and include Lake Naivasha, one of the freshwater lakes in the Great Rift Valley where you can see the lake’s dense population of hippos and birds on a boat.

Crescent Island is about 15 minutes by boat away from the shores of Lake Naivasha. It is one of the few places where you can enjoy a nature walk alongside wild animals. Animals to see here include wildebeests and giraffes among many other attractions.

Maasai Mara National Reserve

The Maasai Mara offers wildlife in such variety and abundance that it is difficult to comprehend. Indeed, over 450 species of animals have been recorded here.
