Spurwing offers a seven day packaged safari to Hazyview area of the Kruger National Park and the Natal wetlands. On this safari package, guests stay at the popular Hippo Hollow Lodge or similar, situated near Hazyview on a half board basis. The package includes transportation and all game drives are conducted in open 4x4 safari vehicles inside the Kruger National Park. The guests then move on Hluhluwe for a couple of days, where they will experience a true Zululand experience before returning to Johannesburg.
Only ten minutes from the world famous Kruger National Park (Phabeni Gate), Hippo Hollow offers comfortable accommodation set within tranquil indigenous gardens just outside Hazyview, the activity gateway to the Kruger Lowveld. This is not your standard accommodation establishment. Hippo Hollow is non-traditional with a refreshing “Out-of-Africa” vibe leaving you feeling totally relaxed.
All rooms and chalets have en-suite bathrooms and tea/coffee facilities and are furnished with touches of local wood for a traditional finish. Zululand is a low-risk malaria area, so all beds in the standard rooms are fitted with a mosquito net to ensure a good night’s sleep. Go off to enjoy the pan-African cuisine while one of your attentive staff lower the nets for you and prepare your bed for the night, so all you need to do is hop right into it. You will also find a tasty treat left on your pillow and an African-inspired story for some bedtime reading.

Guests will be collected at 06:00 in the morning from your hotel or O.R. Tambo International Airport (JNB). You will then make your way to Hazyview via the panorama route which includes God’s Window, Lisbon Falls, and graskop and all entrance fees are included in the package.
There are numerous stops along the way for comfort breaks and photo moments. Upon arrival in Hazyview, guests will check into Hippo Hollow Country Estate or Sabi River Sun (or similar if not available), which is situated near the Phabeni Gate of the Kruger National Park.
The lodge is a 4-star establishment, rooms are air-conditioned and en-suite. On your first evening, you will either partake in an afternoon game drive or a sunset game drive. This is dependent on availability and will be communicated to the guest on route to Hazyview.
On your second day of the package, Spurwing Tourism Services' guide will pick you up in the early morning and will spend the full day with you in the Kruger Park, where hopefully you will be able to view the big five. You will stop during the day for a number of comfort breaks and a chance to enjoy lunch. Lunch is at your own cost.
Your guides are highly trained professionals equipped with knowledge on virtually every living species in the park, and will provide you with an insightful, unforgettable and enjoyable experience. You will be in an open 4x4 game vehicle, so please bring a hat, sunscreen and appropriate clothing.
Day three will be a replica of day two. Your guide will pick you up in the early morning and will spend the full day with you in the Kruger Park, where hopefully you will be able to view the big five. You will stop during the day for a number of comfort breaks and a chance to enjoy lunch. Lunch is at your own cost.
On your fourth morning, departure mid-morning towards Zululand. The drive from Hazyview to Hluhluwe takes about 7 hours including comfort breaks. Upon arrival, you will be accommodated at Ubizane Wildlife Reserve or similar and enjoyed your evening at leisure.
On day five, the tour includes a full day in the St. Lucia Wetlands area. The morning is spent on a boat ride in the St. Lucia Wetlands, with an opportunity to spot hippo and crocodiles in their natural environment. The boat ride is subject to weather conditions. Lunch can either be enjoyed on the boat or en-route to your next activity.
You then head towards Dumazulu Village, experiencing the true culture of the Zulu people. Join in the singing and dancing and also take a tour of the village with great stories told about the rich history of the Zulu Tribe.
On day six, you embark on a morning game drive in the Hluhluwe Game Reserve. This reserve is famous for the great numbers of both white and black rhino in the reserve. Return to the lodge for lunch a bit of relaxing and then in the afternoon head out on another game drive in the nearby reserve.
Your last morning will be spent driving to Johannesburg from Hluhluwe. Alternatively, you can be dropped off in Durban (subject to availability and an additional charge of 3000 ZAR per vehicle, for up to 4 guests.
