Lake Naivasha is a beautiful freshwater lake, fringed by thick papyrus. The lake and its surrounds are rich in natural bounty, and the fertile soils and water supply have made this one of Kenya's prime agricultural regions. Much of the lake is surrounded by forests of the yellow barked Acacia Xanthophlea, which is known as the yellow fever tree.
These forests abound with bird life, and Naivasha is known as a world class birding destination. The waters of the lake draw a great range of game to these shores. You can see giraffes wander among the acacia, buffalo wallow in the swamps, and colobus monkeys call from the treetops while the large hippo population sleep the day out in the shallows.
Lake Nakuru National Park is the world famous haunt for pink flamingos and is a shallow alkaline lake in Kenya's Rift Valley and some 62 square kilometers in extent. The road from Nairobi to Nakuru passes down the Kikuyu escarpment with fine views of the Kedong Valley and Mounts Suswa and Longonot. The landscape is picturesque, areas of sedge, marsh, and grasslands alternating with rocky cliffs and outcrop.
In late 80's, the park also became Kenya's first rhino sanctuary and today is home to both the white and black rhinos. Lions, leopards, hippos, giraffes, and waterbucks are equally at home in this unique park.
Masai Mara offers an absolutely unique variety of animals. Thanks to the hilly region both humid and fertile, and criss-crossed by the rivers Mara and Talek, which is full of crocodiles and hippos. These perennial rivers carry water the whole year round. The banks of the rivers are covered in thick forest, which gradually makes way for bush and grassland. The abundance of water and excellent availability of food are some of the reasons for a high density of wildlife here.
The name Nairobi comes from the Maasai phrase, Enkare Nyirobi, which translates to "the place of cool waters". However, it is popularly known as the "green city in the sun", and is surrounded by several expanding villa suburbs.
Today, the city skyline is dominated by modern high rise buildings and is a tourism and trade hub. Nairobi is now one of the most prominent cities in Africa politically and financially. It is a vibrant city with a mix of races and cultures, providing the visitor with several sightseeing options such as museums, a national park, golf courses, resorts and posh night clubs. It is one of the leading cities in Africa.
Ol Pejeta Game Conservancy boasts an astounding variety of animals, including the non-indigenous chimpanzees and the big five (the endangered black rhino, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and lion).
You will be served daily meals as indicated in the itinerary as well as daily mineral water per person in the vehicle.
Massage or other treatments can be booked at an additional cost.
