Have a unique chimpanzee trekking experience at the Gombe Stream National Park, the smallest of Tanzania's national parks. This park, settled in a fragile strip of chimpanzee habitat, is straddling the steep slopes and river valleys that hem in the sandy northern shore of Lake Tanganyika. This tour will also give you a chance to enjoy nature walks in the forest and to visit other attractions like the beautiful Kakombe Waterfalls.
You will be provided three nights of accommodation on this safari. On the first night, you will be staying at the Tanapa Rest House and on the second night, you will stay at Gombe Rest House. The last night of the safari will be spent at Lake Tanganyika Kigoma Hill Top Hotel.
Next to the visitor center at Kasekela, this amenable place has six simple rooms with electricity in the mornings and evenings. Two overflow facilities have rooms of lesser quality and toilets in the back. There are also four special glamping-style tents.
Kigoma Hilltop Hotel has eight double suites, one triple suite with a double and an extra third bed, one deluxe double suite, 14 executive double rooms, four twin executive rooms, and two triple executive rooms, housing a total of 63 guests in 30 rooms.
All rooms have en-suite bathrooms with full porcelain suite of flush toilet, bidet, and hand basin with shower, hot and cold running water, bath consumables, and bottled drinking water with glasses. The rooms contain beds with mosquito nets, bedside tables, wardrobe, dressing table, and chair and luggage rack.
There is air-conditioning, satellite television, fridge, phone to reception, charging power point, and safe. Safari chairs and low coffee tables on concrete tiled balconies overlook the lake or the gardens. The deluxe suites have a separate lounge area, a Jacuzzi on a wooden deck, an en-suite bath and bathrobes, hair-dryer, and tea and coffee-making equipment.
Children are welcome, but there is no babysitting service. Wedding and conference facilities are on offer, which can be combined with a cultural and historic and cultural tour of Kigoma. Wi-Fi is available. There is a standby generator at night. There is also a public reception and lounge area, a restaurant, two conference rooms, gym, sports facilities (tennis courts and table tennis tables), and a swimming pool.
Early in the morning, you will be picked up from your hotel in Dar es Salaam and be driven to the airport for your scheduled flight to Kigoma. Upon arrival, you will be taken to Ujiji Village, where you will visit Doctor Livingstone Memorial Center, and you will proceed to Kibirizi Port for your boat ride to Gombe Stream National Park. You will be picked up and driven to the rest house for a hot lunch and then out for an evening chimpanzee trek in the forest.
