You will stay in Gombe Bandas during this safari. Gombe Bandas is an accommodation located inside Gombe Stream National Park.
Gombe Bandas is a government-owned, low-budget rest house accommodation in Gombe Stream National Park, suitable for backpackers and other highly motivated, non-frill adventurers. There are 8 very basic small rooms with a single or twin bed, bedside table, and there are common sitting and dining areas as well as shared toilets and showers.
You will leave for the Kibirizi port for your boat to Gombe Stream National Park in time to take off for a chimpanzee tracking tour in the forest. Gombe Stream National Park’s main attraction is obviously the chimpanzee families that live and protected inside the park’s boundaries. Visitors take walks deep into the forest to observe these extraordinary primates for an entire morning.
Apart from chimpanzee viewing, many other species of primates live in these tropical forests. Colobus monkeys, baboons, forest pigs, and dik-dik inhabit the dense forest as well as a wide variety of tropical birdlife. Later in the evening, you will head to Gombe Bandas lodge for your dinner and overnight stay.
Driving time could be up to 7.5 hours.
After breakfast, you will take off for another day of chimpanzee tracking in the forest. Gombe Stream National Park became well-known for the conservation project started by Jane Goodall, who first arrived in Gombe in 1960. You will climb to Jane’s peak and visit Kakombe waterfalls if time allows. Also, taking a walk on your own after the trek along the lake’s waterfall is also possible. Later in the day, you will return to the lodge for your dinner and overnight stay.
Driving time could be up to 7.5 hours.
After breakfast, you will be picked up and taken, by boat, back to Kigoma town. Upon arrival, you will be picked up and driven to the airport for your flight back to Dar es Salaam. This is where your safari will end.
You will have the chance to visit Kakombe Waterfall and take a walk along the lake’s waterfall on your own.
