You will go to the top of the thunderous Murchison Falls where you will enjoy the spectacular view. Afterwards, you will proceed to Kampala and arrive there in the late afternoon. You can either depart from Uganda or choose to stay and tour the country some more.
This retreat will take place in the Murchison Falls National Park. First gazetted as a game reserve in 1926, this park is Uganda’s largest and oldest conservation area, hosting 76 species of mammals and 451 species of birds. This is the largest national park in Uganda, covering 3,480 square kilometers, and one of the most spectacular in Africa. The park is bisected by the Victoria Nile, which plunges 45 meters over the remnant rift valley wall, creating the dramatic Murchison Falls.
This falls is characterized by an eternal war between rock and water. The waters violently compress through a narrow gorge, spraying misty droplets along their wake over a 50-meter radius. This creates a permanent rainbow over the battlefield and causes a continuous roar. From Baker Point on the southern side, you can also view the Nile splitting into the smaller Uhuru Falls which was created in 1962 when the river burst its banks.
The Murchison Falls is the centerpiece of the park and the final event in an 80-kilometer stretch of rapids. The mighty cascade drains the last of the river’s energy, transforming it into a broad, placid stream that flows quietly across the rift valley floor into Lake Albert. A cruise upstream the Nile to the falls is an unforgettable experience. This stretch of river and its banks provide one of Uganda’s most remarkable wildlife spectacles including the elephant, crocodile, hippopotamus, lion, giraffe, buffalo, and countless antelopes and birds.
You have one breakfast and two dinners and one lunch cruise included in the price of this retreat.
