This gorilla habituation experience is the first of its kind that will take you to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for 2 memorable nights. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is well-known for being home to almost a half of the endangered mountain gorillas in the whole world. This is a perfect experience for those who would love to spend more hours with gorillas.
The maximum participants in the group is 8.
During your gorilla habituation experience, you will stay at Buhoma community Rest camp / Ruhija Gorilla Friends Camp / Travellers Rest Hotel Kisolo / Gorilla Valley Lodge.
You will be picked by Saso Uganda Safaris' driver guide to start your 3-day gorilla habituation experience road tour to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The safaris normally start very early in the morning with stops at the Equator crossing for photo shoots and a lunch break in Mbarara. You will then proceed to the southern part of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park because this is the place where gorilla habituation experience is currently taking place.
This journey is very scenic as you have an opportunity to see the Kigezi rolling hills and valleys as you travel to Kisoro or southern part of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. You will arrive late in the afternoon for dinner and overnight stay.
You will wake up early in the morning and head to the headquarters of the park to join other clients for briefing about dos and don’ts while with mountain gorillas on your habituation experience. After briefing, you will start your trek into the forest, guided by researchers and guides. During your trek, you may encounter several birds, other animals, and primates in the forest. Once you have found the gorillas, you will spend four hours with them and return back to the lodge to stay overnight.
You will have an opportunity to listen the researchers doing their work of habituating gorillas and if possible, you will be called upon to participate by collecting samples, naming of group members, making calls, and so much more.
After breakfast, you will drive back to Kampala or Entebbe International Airport (EBB), marking the end of your 3-day gorilla habituation experience road tour.
This gorilla habituation experience will take place in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Uganda. It’s a wonderful place where mountain gorillas co-exist with wild chimpanzees and was known for gorilla trekking.
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park lies in southwestern Uganda on the edge of the Rift Valley. Its mist-covered hillsides are blanketed by one of Uganda’s oldest and most biologically diverse rainforests, which dates back over 25,000 years and contains almost 400 species of plants. More famously, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest also protects an estimated 320 mountain gorillas, roughly half of the world’s population, including several habituated gorilla groups.
This biologically diverse region also provides shelter to a further 120 mammals, including several primate species such as baboons and chimpanzees, as well as elephants and antelopes. There are species of birds hosted in this forest, including 23 Albertine Rift endemics.
You will be served daily breakfast, lunch, dinner, and bottled drinking water on safari during your stay.
You can enjoy a city tour in your spare time.
