This safari takes you to Lake Mburo National Park for wildlife viewing, bird watching, boat trips, and guided nature walks. The Lake Mburo National Park contains an extensive area of wetland and harbors several species of mammals including zebras, impalas, elands, topi, and buffaloes. This park is the only place in Uganda where impala can be found and the best place to see large herds of elands. It is also the only park where a guided game walk is possible.
You will be staying on Eagle's Nest Camp on the first night of the safari. Located on a high hill bordering Lake Mburo National Park, this tented camp has not only one of the best views in Uganda, it is also the ultimate African canvas experience. Every safari tent has its own veranda, overlooking the park. The bathrooms are real bush-experience. The shower will be filled upon your request and the toilet is a new eco-friendly invention.
You will depart Kampala after breakfast for Lake Mburo National Park. The drive takes three to four hours with stopovers at areas of tourist attraction such as the Royal Drum makers’ center and at the Equator for an opportunity to stand in both the northern and southern hemispheres at the same time.
You will continue through the savanna grasslands dotted with human homesteads, banana plantations, and several herds of local long horned Ankole cattle endemic to this part of the country. You will have lunch at the lodge reserved for you, after which you will go for a boat trip on Lake Mburo, rich with a variety of water animals such as hippos, crocodiles, and bird species. Your overnight accommodation will be at Eagle's Nest Camp.
You will have an early morning game drive through the park in search of plain game like zebra, hippos, crocodiles, eland, antelope, impala, and a variety of birds. You will return to your lodge for breakfast and then take a guided nature walk. This walk takes you to the salt lick area which offers a chance to see at least four different species of animals at any one point while they lick the salty soil. You will return to Kampala, arriving late in the afternoon.
