Itinerary

Day 1: Johannesburg - Kruger National Park (including transfer)

Your journey starts as you embark on an adventure from Johannesburg to the magnificent Kruger National Park. You start early in the morning by meeting your transfer at 6:45 a.m. at the OR Tambo International airport bus terminal. The route takes you through the picturesque Lowveld region, passing through Nelspruit, as you make your way to the renowned Kruger National Park.

Along the way, you pause for a brief break at a charming trout farmstall, providing a perfect opportunity to stretch your legs and enjoy a quick lunch (personal expenses apply). After this refreshing break, you continue the journey to the chosen lodge within the Kruger National Park.

Upon arrival and settling into the lodge, you eagerly anticipate an exciting activity in store for the evening. You take part in a captivating sunset open vehicle game drive within the boundaries of Kruger Park National Park, offering you a chance to witness the mesmerizing wildlife of this iconic wilderness.

Day 2: Kruger National Park (full day game drive)

This day is dedicated to immersing yourself in the wonders of Kruger National Park. The day is filled with a thrilling full-day game drive, conducted in an open 4x4 game drive vehicle, led by a knowledgeable local guide. This adventure promises outstanding opportunities for wildlife sightings, including the sought-after Big Five, as well as a myriad of antelope and bird species.

While the day's itinerary does not guarantee spotting all of the Big Five, such as the elusive leopard during daylight hours, you explore various waterholes throughout the day, aiming to encounter a wide array of Kruger's incredible wildlife. Lunch is enjoyed at one of the rest camps within the park, with expenses covered individually

Day 3: Kruger National Park (Panorama Route)

Embark on the Panorama Route, a journey that showcases some of the region's most breathtaking natural wonders. This includes visits to the iconic Three Rondawels overlooking the Blyde River Canyon, Bourkes Potholes, and the awe-inspiring Gods Window, which provides a spectacular view of the Kruger Lowveld.

The morning is dedicated to exploring the Panorama route, while the afternoon grants leisure time back at our lodge, allowing you to relax and enjoy the surroundings at your own pace.

Day 4: Kruger National Park - Johannesburg (including transfer)

Enjoy a relaxed morning at the lodge, allowing you some well-deserved downtime to catch up on your social media updates or finalize your plans for the next leg of your holiday. The lodge's attentive staff will assist in arranging your transfer to the charming town of Hazyview, where you'll rendezvous with your 12 noon transfer back to Johannesburg.

Kruger National Park

The Kruger National Park covers 19,500 square kilometers which is the second larger game park in Africa and the largest in South Africa. The Kruger National Park spans 360 kilometers from north to south and 65 kilometers from west to east. The park holds the Big Five which is a dream come true to any avid game watcher and wildlife enthusiast. For the avid birdwatchers, this place can be simply described as pure heaven.

Food

All breakfasts and dinners will be served at the lodge for the exception of Breakfast packs for the early morning game drive departures. Meanwhile, lunches will be on your own account due to the nature of the itinerary. You can budget around 150 ZAR (less than 10 USD) per day for a really good lunch at the Kruger Park Camp. The camp at the Kruger also caters to all dietary requirements.

Furthermore, in order for SandyTracks to properly cater while on tour, it is important to inform SandyTracks if there are any special dietary requirements.

How to get there

Recommended Airports

Arrival by scheduled shuttle transfer

Please be ready for pickup at 6:45 a.m. at the bus terminal at O.R. Tambo International Airport (JNB). You'll be transferred to Kruger Park, arriving around 12:00 in Hazyview, where you'll meet your Sabie River Guide. Just in time for a sunset open-vehicle game drive in the Kruger. The following morning, your full-day game drive kicks off bright and early at 5 a.m.!
