Dwyka Tented Lodge

For those who enjoy camping but also appreciate luxury, these tents invoke the feeling of a pioneering adventure. Each luxury tent can sleep a maximum of two adults. There are nine suites that can be configured as or twin or king bedded luxury tents, each of which have these features:

Each room can accommodate a maximum of two adults sharing with one child up to 11 years old. Four pairs of rooms at Gondwana Family Lodge are inter-leading.

Program

Day 1

Drive to Sanbona Wildlife Reserve which is situated about three hours from Cape Town between the towns of Montagu and Barrydale. You will arrive at Sanbona Wildlife Reserve in time for lunch. Relax before setting off for an afternoon game drive. Return to camp afterwards and dinner will be served.

The Relaxation Retreats each boast two therapy rooms and are available at all lodges. The Gondwana Family Lodge is also equipped with a steam room and Tilney Manor is equipped with a steam room and sauna. Spa treatments are for the guest's own account.

How to get there

Recommended Airports

Driving directions from Cape Town

  • Take the N1 highway in the direction of Paarl - there is a tollgate on this road, just before the Huguenot Tunnel.
  • Once through the tunnel, take the second turnoff to the right into Worcester (R60) - follow the signs towards Robertson.
  • Drive through Robertson, still on the R60 into Ashton.
  • Proceed through Ashton - the R60 becomes the R62.
  • Carry on through Kogmanskloof and Montagu.
  • About 43 kilometers from Montagu, turn left at ‘Die Vlakte’ and Sanbona Wildlife Reserve sign.
  • Continue for 7 kilometers to reach the main entrance.
  • Proceed for another 15 kilometers to reach the Welcome Lounge.
  • Please be advised that the road changes from tar to gravel and the recommended speed limit from there until the main gate is 60 kilometers per hour. The main entrance to Sanbona Wildlife Reserve is 7 kilometers. Once through the Main Gate, the speed limit is 40 kilometers per hour.

Driving directions from Oudtshoorn

  • Follow Route 62 for 175 kilometers via Calitzdorp and Ladismith, towards Barrydale.
  • From Barrydale, continue on Route 62 towards Montagu for approximately 22 kilometers.
  • Turn right at ‘Die Vlakte’ and Sanbona Wildlife Reserve signs.
  • Continue for 7 kilometers to reach the main entrance.
  • Proceed for another 15 kilometers to reach the Welcome Lounge.

Children will only be accommodated at Gondwana Family Lodge. Children from 0 to 3 years old are accommodated at no additional cost. They must share with adults, depending on the availability of cots and / or rooms with a sleeper couch. They are not permitted on game drives.

While children from 4 to 11 years old are accommodated at 50% (half) of the adult rate. They may share with adults, depending on the availability of rooms with a sleeper couch per room. They are permitted on game drives.
