Tortilis Camp Amboseli

Named after the natural forest of flat-topped acacia tortilis thorn trees that give it shade, the charming Tortilis Camp is situated on a sprawling private concession, accessed from within the renowned Amboseli National Park. Guests can expect elegant accommodation and endless views stretching to the majestic snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru in Tanzania.

The camp’s beautifully appointed tents are spacious, with comfortable beds, lovely ensuite bathrooms, and a private veranda. Guests traveling with children can make use of the Family Tent and small groups can enjoy the comforts of the Private House. All accommodation options at Tortilis have exceptional mountain views.

The guest areas of the camp include a cozy sitting room, bar, and dining area, all exquisitely furnished with natural materials and covered with thatched roofs. Guests can take a dip in the sparkling swimming pool or relax with an indulgent massage after an adventure-filled morning of game viewing.

Over one thousand elephants, vast herds of wildebeest, lions, and more than 300 species of birds have made the pristine wilderness of the Amboseli their home, which makes for exciting game viewing opportunities. Adventures include twice-daily game drives in open 4×4 safari vehicles, walks outside the park (led by expert Maasai guides), cultural tours, and decadent bush breakfasts.

Day 1: Arrive in Nairobi

You will arrive in Nairobi and you will be picked up from the airport by Samson's Safaris representative. You will have a stopover for lunch and be transferred to your hotel for check-in. After your afternoon relaxation, enjoy barbecue dinner at The Carnivore Restaurant in “All You Can Eat”. Transfer to your hotel for your overnight stay.

Day 2: Full-day tour in Nairobi

Today you will have a day tour of Nairobi National Park. It is a unique and unspoiled wildlife haven within sight of the city’s skyline. Rhino, buffalo, cheetah, zebra, giraffe, lion, and plenty of antelopes and gazelles can be seen roaming in this open-plain country. Mid-day visit to the Elephant Orphanage.

Getting a closer look at the elephants as they are being fed is a magical moment that you can’t wish to miss. In the afternoon, visit the Giraffe Centre to feed the giraffes and learn more about the different types of giraffes. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 3: Nairobi to Meru

Early morning check out and fly to Meru. On arrival get transferred to your lodge. Arrive at your lodge in time for lunch and check and have lunch. Spend the afternoon relaxing. Enjoy an evening shared game viewing drive at Meru Rhino Sanctuary. Dinner and overnight at lodge.

Day 4: Meru National Park

Today, have a bush breakfast and visit Meru National Park, a park of complete wilderness with abundant wildlife, birds, and vegetation. Enjoy a shared game viewing drive searching for animals such as elands, cheetahs, leopards, the endangered Grevy’s zebras, and reticulated giraffes among others. At sunset, have a wonderful sundowner at the lodge.

Day 5: Departure from Meru to Maasai Mara

Early morning, you will fly to Maasai Mara the Land of abundant wildlife and vast savannah plains. Upon arrival, get transferred to the lodge. Spend the afternoon relaxing. Experience a guided walking safari in the bush with abundant wildlife and sundowners. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 6: Maasai Mara

Today you will have a balloon safari ride. This magical experience will take one hour, you will land at the heart of the Mara where a bush champagne breakfast will be awaiting you. In the evening, you will visit the local Maasai village for a complimentary one-hour cultural tour. Learn the Maasai community's way of life from herding livestock, and building their famous manyatta huts among other activities.

Day 7: Full day in Maasai Mara

On this last day of your bush safari have a shared morning game viewing drive in Mara searching for the Big 5 among others with magnificent views across the Mara Plains. An afternoon spent for relaxation and in the evening have a guided walking safari in the bush and a sundowner.

Day 8: Departure from Maasai Mara to Amboseli

Samson's Safaris will take you to the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro on this amazing Amboseli safari. Enjoy amazing game-viewing drives with close-up moments of the huge elephant herds. The pink flamingos color the waters of Lake Amboseli. For bird watchers, this is a must-do experience where you get to view over 400 species of birds. Upon arrival get transferred to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 9: Amboseli

Experience a morning and evening game drive through the Amboseli National Park for a chance to spot animals not seen the previous day. Enjoy breathtaking views of the Amboseli from the observation point where you also get to take photos. At sunset, enjoy a guided bush walk and a sundowner.

Day 10: Flight home

After a lovely bush getaway, bid goodbye to Amboseli and transfer to Amboseli Airstrip for your local flight to Nairobi connecting to the flight home.

Please book your flight to arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO). Airport transfers are included in the package. The local flights are also included in the price. Duffel bags are preferable as airline baggage allowance for every passenger is strictly 15 kilograms/33 pounds in soft bags inclusive of hand luggage and cameras.
