Marc’s treehouse lodge offers rustic but comfortable accommodation geared to put one in close contact with the sights, sounds, and scents of the wild. The treehouses, which are made of wood and reeds under thatch, blend harmoniously into the dense riverine vegetation. Amenities include electric fans, mosquito nets, comfortable beds, linen, towels, and soap. Each treehouse has its own private ablutions and a viewing deck overlooking the perennial Klaserie River or the “breakfast” dam where animals often come to drink.
Tremisana is the largest and leading lodge in this section having a total of 15 chalets plus a two-bedroomed guesthouse. It can accommodate a maximum of 40 guests. Each room of the lodge has en-suite shower, toilet, and basin. All units are air-conditioned. The lodge is serviced by two excellent boreholes. Its proximity to the tar road means Tremisana is easily accessible all year round, including the rainy season.
The presence of lions, elephant, and buffalo necessitates an electric fence around the camp. Perhaps the most striking feature of Tremisana game lodge is the beautiful gardens. The presence of numerous bougainvilleas, various palms, cycads gives the camp a subtropical feel. Water features add a soothing effect, making the overall feel of Tremisana very relaxing. At night, the subdued light from the illuminated paved walkways lends a romantic and magical ambiance to the camp.
You will be picked up in the morning from your hotel in Gauteng or from O. R. Tambo International Airport (JNB) and travel via the Highveld grasslands to the subtropical Lowveld. There will be a stop in Dullstroom for lunch. At Tremisana Game Lodge in the Balule section of the Kruger National Park, you can unwind at the bar, enjoy a refreshing dip in the pool, or relax in the beautiful tropical gardens.
Later, you will board an open landcruiser for a three-hour sunset game drive, your first opportunity to experience the varied fauna and flora of Africa. Watch the magnificent African sunset and, after dark, you will use spotlights to locate nocturnal animals. Dinner in the Boma will be a traditional South African meal. You will stay overnight in an en-suite chalet.
At sunrise, you’ll drive to a remote spot along the Olifants River to enjoy a four-hour bush walk with an armed ranger. Your ranger will lead you through the bush at a pace you can handle. You will experience the thrill of following big animals, making your adrenalin surge. You will return to Tremisana for brunch. At 15:00, you will enjoy an afternoon game drive. After you will be transferred to Marc’s Treehouse Lodge, where accommodation is in tents near the Klaserie river. The tents are equipped with beds and bedding, soap and towels, and electric light and fan. Enjoy dinner and the accommodations at Marc’s Camp.
Today you will drive to the Orpen Gate of Kruger in a custom-built open-sided game viewer. You will have an opportunity to view game without intervening glass windows, listen to, and smell the denizens of the bush. There will be regular stops at picnic spots, rest camps, and places of interest. The Orpen-Satara-Nwanedzi region’s open plains attract large herds of zebra, giraffe, and antelope, that in turn attract many predators. The zone has the highest concentration of lions in Africa. You'll return to Marc’s Camp for dinner and overnight stay in your comfortable tent.
After breakfast, you will travel to the Moholoholo Rehabilitation Center for injured and orphaned animals and birds. You’ll have an opportunity to see some animals that can not be released to the wild. After lunch, you’ll be driven to Tremisana. At around 15:00, you’ll head to Tshukudu Game Lodge where you’ll enjoy another open vehicle game drive in the big five Tshukudu Game Reserve. You'll stay overnight at Marc’s Camp.
Today, enjoy an easy sunrise bush walk. After breakfast, you’ll depart Balule or Kruger and drive via the Panoramic route to see the scenic splendors including the Three Rondavels and the Blyde River Canyon. You will return to Gauteng in the late afternoon. You may also be brought to Johannesburg at 17:00 by arrangement.
The Kruger National Park is located in the lowveld in the north-eastern region of South Africa and spans across two provinces, the Mpumalanga and Limpopo provinces. It is not only the largest national game reserve in South Africa but the most prestigious and impressive. This world-renowned park, which occupies an area of about two million hectares or 20,000 square kilometers, is home to a large variety of fauna and flora.
The Kruger Park, which boasts of the richest assortment of life forms in Southern Africa, offers one of the best safari and game viewing experiences. The park is about 360 kilometers long from north to south, about 65 kilometers wide from east to west, and about the same size as Wales. The Kruger, formerly proclaimed a national park in 1926, forms part of the Great Limpopo Frontier Park.
This massive peace park links the Kruger with the Gonarezhou National Park in Zimbabwe and with the Limpopo National Park in Mozambique. Zimbabwe lies to the north and Mozambique to the east of the Kruger Park. The Kruger Park, which is famous for its abundant wildlife, is also a world leader in advanced environmental management techniques. Several rivers flow through the Kruger in an easterly direction, including the Sabie, Olifants, Crocodile, Letaba, Luvuvhu, and Limpopo Rivers.
