You will stay in various accommodations provided by Safari Madagascar.



Day 1: Transfer

A member of the team will welcome you and bring you to your hotel. He will give the written program and some information you should need.

Day 2: Ifaty

The driver will pick you up and drive you to the airport to flight to the south of the country. On your arrival, another driver will pick you up and drive you to you a lodge and you can start for the activities to visit the spiny forest to discover the fauna and the flora of the area. Overnight will be at the lodge on B&B basis.

Day 3: Ifaty

After breakfast, let’s discover the spiny forest in the morning the nature awake to see some species of birds include the long-tailed ground roller, Archbold’s newtonia, subdesert mesite, some reptile species, and lemurs. Free leisure afternoon and overnight will be at the same lodge.

Day 4: Ifaty - Ranohira

You will leave the coast and drive to the northern to visit Isalo National Park. On the way, you can see some baobab. You will stop at Zombitse National Park. This deciduous dry forest attracts people for its strange adaptation between the dry forest and humid forest. The number of the animal species living here is remarkable.

Eight species of lemurs such as the Verreaux’s Sifaka, red-fronted brown lemur, and some 85 birds species including the rare birds as Appert’s tetraka, giant couas, cuckoo roller, etc. After the visit, you will continue your way to Ranohira passing through the rush village of sapphire called Ilakaka. Overnight will be at the lodge.

Day 5: Visit to Isalo National Park

With the local guide chosen carefully for you, you’ll hike to discover the lunar landscape. You will impress by the oasis, canyon, and fall. This environment was created during the Jurassic period and the vegetation adapt this the circumstance as the Pachypodium rosulatum.

This place is also the native habitat for the rare bird called forest rock thrush (pseudocossyphus bensoni). You can find also some species of lemur as ring-tailed lemur (lemur catta) and white-fronted brown lemurs. After the hike, you will drive to the lodge on B&B basis.

Day 6: Ranohira - Ranomafana

Today, you will drive to the rainforest of Ranomafana. On the way, you will be going to stop for the visit of Anja Community Reserve to see some family of ring-tailed lemur. To Ambalavao, you will stop to visit the handmade paper factory where you can learn the process of producing Antaimoro paper. The process is introduced by the Arabic people long time ago but they still keep the same way till today. This place is also famous for winery. Overnight will be at the lodge.

Day 7: Visit to Ranomafana

Today, with the local guide, you will discover the rainforest of Ranomafana. This park is located in the southeastern of the country with 41,600 hectares, the home of several rare species of the flora and fauna. Various scientist publications have been published about this park. Several species of birds can be seen including the pitta like ground roller, scaly ground roller, and some other species of vanga birds.

Highlight of this visit will be lemurs as the golden bamboo lemur, Milne Edward’s difaka common brown lemur. In the evening, you‘ll go for a night walk to spot the smallest primate species called mouse lemur and some varieties of chameleons. Close by the park, there is a research station called ValBio established in 2003 managed by Stony Brook University. This center help the local people for health and education.

Day 8: Ranomafana - Antsirabe

After breakfast at the lodge, you will come back to the famous road RN 7 and drive to the north to join highland. You‘ll see the terraced rice paddies scenery passing through the capital of the woodcarving handcraft where you will have to spot to visit some work-shop of the woodcarver. Overnight will be at the lodge.

Day 9: Antisirabe - Andasibe

Before you leave Antsirabe, you should have a short visit of this city of the Moroccan King Mohamed V that was exiled in 1955. You will also have a quick stop to visit the handcraft of zebu horn to make jewelry, spoons, and other thing else. After the visit, you will drive to Andasibe National Park that will give you the Malagasy Highland scenery mountains typical villages and local working field.

You will then visit Peyrieras Reptile Reserve to see some species of chameleons and geckos. Founded by the French entomologist and naturalist André Peyreras, the collection includes the flat-tailed geckos, golden mantela, and Parson’s chameleon - the largest Chameleon. Overnight will be at the lodge.

Day 10: Visit to Andasibe-Mantadia National Park

You will visit the Analamazaotra Special Reserve in order to have the best observation conditions, you will leave the accommodation at 07:30. Then, you will look for the largest species of lemur called Indri. Indri or the Malagasy is Babakoto. This lemur is endemic to the site and made his emblem.

Through an easy hike lasting about three to four hours, you will search for other species of lemurs such as Sifaka and common brown lemur and also birds. After lunch, you will continue to the lemur island, Vakona Island. This is a rare opportunity to get up close and interact with these primates. After the visit, you will drive back to the lodge.

Day 11: Andasibe

After breakfast, you will go to the eastern part of the country to join the lake of Ravelobe where the boat will wait for you for the transfer to Ankany’ny Nofy / Palmarium Reserve (the nest of the dream) through the artificial channel dinged by the Malagasy people during the colonial period. Ankany’ny Nofy is located between the Indian Ocean and the Pangalane Channel. The ferry will take you 1 hour 30 minutes. Free leisure will be in the afternoon and overnight at the lodge.

Day 12: Visit to Palmarium Reserve

It will be really a nice place for a walk especially to see the Indri, Macaco lemurs, black and white ruffed lemur, and the famous carnivorous plant endemic to the country called Nepenthes. Free leisure will be in the afternoon and overnight will be back to the lodge.

Day 13: Ankany’ny Nofy (Palmarium Reserve) - Antanativo

Today will be the last day of your safari. You will depart from Ankany’ny Nofy to Antanativo.


During the whole trip, Safari Madagascar uses 4-WD as Toyota or Mitsubishi for comfort. However, a van (Hyundai Grand Starex) and bus (Hyundai County or Nissan Civilian) are also available for travelers more than four to get more space.

Note: Transfer (by car, by boat, etc.) is sometimes necessary according to the program. The trip requires domestic flight on starting or in the beginning because most of the tour is by land and the way back is too long. For the first accommodation of the travelers will depend on the flight arrival. If it's too late, they have to stay one night in Antananarivo then the following day they take a flight to Tulear and drive to Ifaty.

The safari journey will take you to some places in Madagascar. Outside Asia, Madagascar has the longest history of rice production. Wetland rice production systems are well developed and rice terraces are frequently found along the roads between Antananarivo and Antsirabe. The Isalo National Park is a protected area of Madagascar which is declared a national park in 1962.

Tsingy Bemaraha is an impressive spiny mountain - amazing landscape of limestone. Saint Marie, Ifaty Anakao will offer you an opportunity for snorkeling and diving. In the morning, you can see the local people from their fishing trip. Baobab Avenue has huge trees as roots on the sky and very famous for sunset over these endemic trees. Of the nine species of baobabs registered in the world, seven of them are endemic to Madagascar.
