Located in close proximity to Udawalawe National Park and Elephant transit home, the Safari Village Hotel is a popular choice of safari goers and budget travelers. Udawalawe Safari Village Hotel is the first hotel opened in Udawalawe since 1993. It has 19 rooms with eight air-conditioned rooms with two dormitories for budget stay guests. The main restaurant built in an open air style while guests can enjoy their meals according to their taste of Japanese, Chinese, local and western cuisines.


Day 1: Arrival and visit to the elephant orphanage

  • 09:00 Pick you up from your hotel
  • 12:00 Check-in at Safari Village Hotel Udawalawe followed by free time to rest at the hotel pool side or cycling.
  • 17:30 Proceed to the elephant orphanage
  • 18:00 Feeding time
  • Return to hotel through Udawalawe dam. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 2: Game drives at Udawalawe National Park

  • 05:30 Proceed to Udawalawe National Park for morning game drive
  • 09:00 Stop at the river bank for picnic breakfast then continue on your game drive
  • 12:00 Back to the hotel followed by Sri Lankan rice and curry lunch
  • Relax in the hotel and dinner in the evening

Day 3: Departure

  • 06:30 to 10:00 Breakfast at the hotel
  • 11:00 Check-out of the hotel. Taxis can be arrange on reasonable price to your next destination.


Located 112 miles (180 kilometers) from Colombo in south-central sector of the island, Udawalawe National Park is the sixth largest animal sanctuary of Sri Lanka. With the resemblance of an African game park, Udawalawe National Park spreads over an area 30,821 providing home for thousands of fauna and flora as well as diverse tropical birds and animals.

Being popular as the best place to observe wild elephants at their natural habitat, at the Udawalawe National Park the visitors will have a better chance of spotting herds of elephants splashing in the surrounding natural ponds and rivers of the reserve.

If it is a safari, you may spot other animals in the park including water buffalo, wild boar, spotted deer, sambur deer, jackal, samber, black-naped hare, mongooses, bandicoots, foxes, the endemic toque macaque and gray langers. If you are lucky, you might be able to see a leopard and other smaller cats, such as fishing cat and jungle cat during the safari adventure.


During this safari, your dinner on the first day, breakfast, lunch, and dinner on the second day, and breakfast on the third day is included in the price. You will also be provided with a bottled water.
