Stay here if you love game viewing and photography - the 3 nearby parks are packed with surprises and stunning scenery and landscape. Solio Park is very close - this time we spent the day with lions. There were 11 babies and 3 adult females all in and around one tree! We also watched a courting, and finally mating, couple of lions. We went back to Rhinowatch for lunch, came straight out again and the lions were still there. Nearby Aberdare is well worth visiting for the magnificent scenery, and Ol Pejeta is only about an hour's drive away. The accommodation at Rhinowatch is comfy and homely - we have stayed in both the tents and chalets. If you get a chalet at the top of the hill, like Twiga or Simba, you will have a superb view of Solio and Mount Kenya - but only if it is not misty. We didn't see the top of the mountain this time.
The staff are all polite, friendly, smiling and professional. The food is excellent and you will not go hungry! For us it is like coming home. It can get chilly at night, but there is a cosy fire in the bar and you will find a hot water bottle in your bed. Rhinowatch also arranged a complete two week safari for us three - a busy schedule which took in Masai Mara, Crater Lake, Elsamere, Nakuru, Meru and Samburu. Just tell Kendy and Frank what you would like to do, what your budget is, and they will arrange a complete trip for you. All their drivers are superb - safe drivers with a love and knowledge of wildlife. This time we had Ashford who is superb. Big thanks to everyone at Rhinowatch, especially Mirriam, Kendy, Maisha, Frank, Moses, Ashford, Pauline for a wonderful stay and trip. I will continue to recommend it to all my friends and I can't wait to come back.
Rhino Watch really feels like home!! We have stayed here over 20 different times and absolutely love it, the staff are always friendly and very welcoming the tents and chalets are all amazing as well as all the other facilities like sauna, spa, massage, conference room, and new swimming pool on offer! If you want to relax, see the wildlife, hold a conference or do all of the above this is the best location for it!
The camp is an extraordinary location. From our house on top of the mountain we had a beautiful of the valley and the well-kept garden.
The lodge concentrates on a breeding program for the rhino. The talk is very worth while to listen to.
