Program

Day 1: Airport pickup and Stone Town City tour

You will be greet at Zanzibar Airport (ZNZ) and transfer to Tembo House Hotel in Stone Town of Zanzibar Island for checking in. There, you can relax for a few hours. At 1:00 p.m., you will have lunch at the hotel with multiple options for menus, then relax for an hour.

At 2:30 p.m., you will go for Stone Town City tour. You will go around the historical culture and architectural important town of Zanzibar with a century history. It includes a visit to former slave market site, now stands as Anglican church built in 1871, town market, visit the Zanzibar Memorial Museum, House of Wonder. At 4:30 p.m., you will go back to the hotel for free time enjoying the pool and other facilities from the hotel.

At 5:00 p.m., you will enjoy the happy hour time from Africa House restaurant where you will enjoy the sunset view and then you will have dinner from the restaurant or at 6 Degrees.

Day 2: Prison Island tour and dhow sunset cruise

After breakfast, you will go for a Prison Island tour at 9:00 a.m.. You will visit Lloyd Mathew's architecture built in 1893 and the island is a home of Aldabra giant tortoises. Flanged by an amazing beach of reef sanctuary, the island is ideal for swimming and snorkeling.

At 1:00 p.m., you will have lunch from the hotel with multiple options of menus available, then relax for an hour’s free time and explore the city. At 4:40 p.m., you will go for the dhow sunset cruise. You will get a good glimpse of wonderful scenes of Indian Ocean, along the stone town shore line. Your evening will be memorable as the good staff spoiling you by serving you with varieties of aperitifs’, the experienced Swahili singers will entertain you with their traditional live music. After that, you will have your free time to relax.

Day 3: Dolphin tour and Jozani forest tour

At 7:00 a.m., you will go for the dolphin tour. You will explore Zanzibar’s fascinating wildlife on a 3-hour outing that combines dolphin-spotting, snorkeling, and visit the oldest mosque in East Africa. You’ll join a guide for a motorboat tour from a coastal fishing village, then do a snorkel to check out the marine wildlife beneath the waves.

The shallow coastal waters around Kizimkazi are a favorite hangout for dolphins that come here for the reliable food supply, to nurse their calves, rest and, socialize. Several bottle-nose dolphins stay at Kizimkazi all year-round. There are also rather shyer humpback dolphins that put in an appearance here, although their schedule is a little more erratic.

After the dolphin tour, you will go for the Jozani Forest tours with the professional guide. There, you can watch and play with red colobus monkeys as you walk through the Jozani Forest reserve. You will join the experienced professional tour guide to a guided nature tour of the sanctuary.

Learn how Zanzibar’s wildlife evolved in isolation from the mainland, follow a boardwalk through a mangrove swamp, and walk between towering eucalyptus and mahogany trees that provide essential habitat for native birds. At 3:00 p.m., you will have lunch from hotel with multiple options of menus available, then relax for an hour and then explore the city.

Day 4: Pickup for Safari Blue tour (Full-day trip)

After breakfast from hotel at 8:30 a.m., you will be collected from your hotel by the guide for Safari Blue tour, a full-day sailing, snorkeling, or sunbathing on a traditional dhow and seafood barbecue. Setting sail from Fumba, you will explore the Menai Bay where dolphins are often sighted.

When dropping the anchor at Kwale sandbank, you can snorkel around the coral reefs. Kwale Island is a great place to explore and climb an ancient baobab tree, which fallen down hundreds years ago but still standing tall. You’ll be served a buffet of grilled fish, lobster, calamari, chickens, and coconut rice. The boat sails to a stunning natural lagoon where there is opportunity to swim before the day is over. You will go back to your hotel. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included.

Day 5: Spice tour and transfer to Maia Bay Beach Resort

After breakfast at 10:00 a.m., you will check out from Tembo House Hotel. You will be collected from your hotel by the professional driver on the way to Spice farm tour. During this tour, you will discover the spices that thrive in Zanzibar’s villages and plantations on a walking tour that’s an aromatic immersion in the island’s rural life.

Join a guide for a walk through local farms, see workers climb into the spice trees, sample spices and fruits fresh from the field, and learn the history of Zanzibar’s spice trade. After finishing tour at 1:00 p.m., you will be on the way to Maia Bay Resort which is located in East Coast, for checking inn. You will have free time at the hotel enjoying the front beach of the hotel with lunch and dinner from the hotel’s restaurant.

Day 6 - 7: Free time at the hotel and beach leisure

On this day, you can relax, swim, and play at the beach in front of the hotel, enjoying the beach or flexible to own arrangement for water sports. Breakfast and dinner are included.

Day 8: Departure to airport

You will have your breakfast, free time, and then you will be transferred to the airport.

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Abeid Amani Karume International Airport (ZNZ). Transfer from and to the airport is included. Rafiki Tours and Travel will pick you up from the airport.

It is also possible to fly to Zanzibar island (arriving in Zanzibar Town) from Dar es Salaam, Tanga, Mombasa, Nairobi, and other destinations in East Africa.

Arrival by ferry / boat

Many visitors to Zanzibar Island travel from Dar es Salaam on one of the fast and efficient Kilimanjaro ferries. Other ferries are Mandeleo, Serengeti, and Flying Horse, but the best are Kilimanjaro ferries. All ferries arrive in Zanzibar town.
