Experience this 7-day safari holiday in Tanzania where you will visit Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Lake Natron, the volcano mountain Ol Doinyo Lengai, and Lake Manyara National Park. During your safari, you will be accommodated for 6 nights at Ngorongoro Rhino Lodge, Empakaai campsite, Acacia campsite, Engaresoro campsite, and Lake Manyara Serena Safari Lodge.
After an early breakfast in Arusha, you will drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area where you visit the largest intact volcanic crater in the world. More than 2,000 feet deep and 12 miles in diameter, the Ngorongoro is one of the largest concentrations of wildlife in Africa. 30,000 animals make their home in this crater. Here, you will enjoy seeing the famous Big Five, namely lions, elephants, rhinos, buffalos, and leopards. In the evening, you will stay overnight at Ngorongoro Rhino Lodge.
After breakfast, you will go on a walk to Olmoti Crater. On this day, you will also have a nice time as you will meet the Maasai on the way to the waterfalls at the crater. Here, you will go on a 4-hour walk and then continue to your base camp at Empakaai Crater where you will stay overnight. The guide will explain to you the details around the camp and you will also see a group of flamingos. In the evening, you will stay overnight at Empakaai campsite.
On this day, you will start walking from Empakaai Crater to Lake Natron. You will descend the outer hills of the Great Rift Valley and walk through the open plains of the Embulbul depression, passing through Nairobi village. You will also have the great opportunity to meet the local Maasai. Lake Natron is a salt and soda lake in the Arusha Region of northern Tanzania. The lake is close to the Kenyan border and in the Gregory Rift which is the eastern branch of the East African Rift. In the evening, you will stay overnight at Acacia campsite.
After breakfast, you will start walking to Ol Doinyo Lengai, an active volcano mountain. In Tanzania, some people call it the holy mountain of the Maasai. Then, you will continue to descend into the Rift Valley escarpment. Most of the time, you will walk on quite steep roads. It takes around 6 hours of walking to reach the foot of the mountain. In the evening, you will stay overnight at the Engaresoro campsite.
On this day, you will experience the culture and traditions of the local Maasai at Lake Natron. Your local guide will show you the Maasai Boma and explain the way Maasai people live. After a short visit to the Maasai boma, you will drive back to Lake Manyara Serena Safari Lodge at Lake Manyara National Park.
