Day 1: Kampala - Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Very early in the morning, you will leave Kampala for a long journey towards the western part of Uganda. It is a full-day drive via a scenic route. On the way, you will pass the equator where you will stop for photos and shopping. You will have lunch in the calm town of Mbarara and proceed your drive through the verdant countryside. You will pass traditional homesteads and have panoramic views of the surroundings. Dinner and overnight at Buhoma Haven Lodge

  • Meal plan: Lunch and dinner

Day 2: Gorilla Tracking

After an early morning breakfast, you will drive to the park headquarters for registration and join others for a gorilla trekking briefing about the dos and the don’ts during your gorilla trekking. Once this is done, you will set off for gorilla tracking. Trekking through the steep, densely forested hills and then finally coming across the gorillas camouflaged in the vegetation is an inspiring and privileged moment.

Tracking in the Bwindi forest requires stamina and can often take most of the day depending on the movements of the gorillas in search of food. On your trek, you are likely to spot other primates, birds, and rare tree species. After finding the gorillas, you will be allowed to spend one hour with gorillas observing them and taking photos before trekking back to the park headquarter. This is indeed an extraordinary feeling being with these beautiful yet endangered creatures.

The afternoon is free for you to enjoy other activities and excursions on offer in and around the national park. Dinner and overnight at Buhoma Haven Lodge

  • Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner
