Day 1: Arrival: Arusha

You will be picked up from the airport and dropped off the hotel in Arusha.

Day 2: First Safari Day: Arusha - Lake Manyara

Meet the professional tours guide/driver in Arusha town who will deliver a short safari info briefing, after which, travel to the Lake Manyara National Park. Arrive in time for lunch at the lodge. After lunch, head into the Lake Manyara National Park. This impressive park is one of Tanzania’s most dramatically located wildlife areas, consisting of a massive but shallow soda lake (covering two-thirds of the park) at the foot of the Great Rift Valley’s western escarpment.

The park’s varied habitat attracts a wide variety of animals, including one of Africa’s largest concentrations of elephants, Manyara’s famous tree-climbing lions, as well as large flocks of flamingos attracted by the algae in the lake. Have dinner and overnight at the campsite.

Day 3: Second Safari Day: Lake Manyara National Park - Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast, descend 600 meters into this magnificent crater for a morning half-day game drive. The Ngorongoro Crater supports a vast variety of animals which include herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, and giant African elephants.

Enjoy a picnic lunch in the crater, after which, travel to the Tarangire National Park. Have dinner and overnight at the campsite.

Day 4: Third Safari Day: Tarangire National Park - Arusha

After breakfast, head into the Tarangire National Park for a morning game drive. The park, Tarangire National Park, is reputed to contain some of the largest elephant herds in Africa. This African national park is also home to three rare species of animals, the Greater Kudu, the Fringed-eared Oryx, as well as a few Ashy Starlings. Return to the lodge for lunch, after which, depart for Arusha town and end your African safari adventure.

Day 5: Departure

End of services, you will be transferred to the airport.

Lake Manyara National Park

Lake Manyara National Park is 329 kilometers squared. The entrance gate lies two hours and 126 kilometers from Arusha. Within the park, there is Lake Manyara which is a rift valley lake and it's home to various water animals and birds. This park is home to over 400 bird species, of which 300 are migratory birds including flamingo, long-crested eagle, and grey-headed Kingfisher, and many animals which live on the giant fig trees, mahogany, groundwater forest, acacia woodlands, bush plains, baobab strewn cliffs, and algae-streaked hot springs.

Animals in this park include leopards, lions, hippos, impalas, elephants, wildebeests, buffalo, warthogs, giraffes, baboons, zebras, blue monkeys, dik-dik, gazelle, and hippos. Bird species include pelicans, cormorants, storks, flamingos, and cormorants. Around these areas, tourists can have game drives, cultural tours, canoeing, night game drive, bird watching, community walk, etc.

You can access the park through the road, two hours from Arusha, or by air via charter flights from Arusha to the Manyara airstrip in 45 minutes. The best time to go to this park is all year round.

Ngorongoro Crater

Ngorongoro National Park is 8300 square kilometers. It’s a world heritage site and is located in Ngorongoro District and the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera lies within this conservation area; it was formally a part of Serengeti National Park. This park is home to over 500 bird species, 25,000 large animals, which live in the montane forest, grassland, bushland with bussei trees, open grassland, woodland, Munge Stream, Lerai Stream, Ngoitokitok Spring, and many other small springs around the crater’s floor.

Animals in this park include cheetah, lion, black rhinoceros, hippopotamus, wildebeest, the zebra, the eland, Grant’s and Thompson’s gazelles, leopards, elephants, mountain reedbuck, and buffalo, wildebeest, hartebeest, waterbuck, warthog, hyena, and jackals; primates include baboons and vervet monkeys.

Tarangire National Park

Tarangire National Park is 2850 square kilometers and it's a 335-kilometer drive from Arusha town. The park got its name from the Tarangire River that flows within this park. It’s the sixth biggest national park in Tanzania. The park is home to over 500 bird species and various animals that live in the acacia and mixed woodland vegetation, baobab trees and old palm, black cotton grass Baobab trees, dense bush, and high grasses.

Animals in this park include wildebeest, elephants, zebras, and hartebeest, giraffes, Impala, Eland, lesser kudu, waterbuck, gazelle rhinos, leopards, giant pythons, Thompson’s gazelle, greater and lesser kudu, cheetah, oryx and gerenuk, and tree-climbing lions. Bird species include Kori bustard, stocking-thighed ostrich, ground hornbills, colorful Yellow-collared lovebird, drabber Rufous-tailed weaver, ashy starling, dwarf mongoose, and pairs of red-and-yellow barbet.

At this park, you can have guided walking safaris, trips to Maasai and Barabaig villages, rock paintings, etc. The best time to go to this area is all year round. You can access the park by road or by air via taking charter flights from Arusha and the Serengeti. The park has the following routes:

  • The Eastern Matete Route - The best for game viewing.
  • The Western Lake Burungi Route - On this route, you might spot leopards and rhino. It also provides good views of lakes Burungi and Manyara, as well as the peaks of Milima Mitatu.
  • The Kitibong Hill Route - You may also spot animals, like buffalo and elephant, on this route.
