The Boma Nairobi Hotel

The Boma Nairobi Hotel has 148 luxury deluxe guest rooms, restaurants, spa and health club, and conference facilities that will cater for your needs.

Kicheche Mara Camp

Kicheche Mara Camp is a seasonal bush camp in the traditional style and accommodates a maximum of sixteen guests in eight comfortable twin / double bedded tents. Each tent has en-suite bathroom facilities, consisting of a bucket shower (a traditional shower rose fed from a tank), a flush loo, and vanity.

The tented camp is set up in a stunning valley south of Aitong. Hot water for the bucket showers is available on call. The tents are furnished with proper beds with linen, table, and chairs (on the veranda). Kicheche also has a large tented lounge (the Nyati tent) with a selection of reference books and easy chairs, the perfect spot to relax during the heat of the day.

On this safari, besides daily game drives, you will also constantly receive the necessary tips, tuition, and advice on camera settings in order to get the very best out of your photographic holiday. Every second day, each photographer’s pictures will be displayed on a computer, enabling a constructive critique to ensure that you are photographing to the very best of your ability.

After breakfast, you will meet a representative from Kicheche Mara Camp and transferred across town to Wilson Airport (WIL), arriving in time to connect with the scheduled morning Air Kenya flight to Maasai Mara National Reserve. On arrival into the famous reserve, you will be transferred to Kicheche Private Camp. The activities include game-viewing drives, nature walks, and visits to local Masai manyattas (villages). You will also have the opportunity for photographic game-viewings by customized four-wheel drive Kicheche vehicles before returning to the camp.

You will spend the five full days at leisure for photographic game-viewing drives by four-wheel drive vehicle in Maasai Mara. Nature walks are also available. More than 500 bird species have been recorded in this area. The diverse habitat enables many different species to co-exist, such as elephants, black rhinos, Maasai giraffes, Cape buffalos, elands, Burchell’s zebras, topis, Coke’s hartebeests, wildebeests, waterbucks, roan antelopes, impalas, Thomson’s gazelles, reedbucks, lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, jackals, the lesser cats, hippos, crocodiles, baboons, vervet monkeys, warthogs, mongooses, and many more. During July to mid-October, Mara is home to the famous wildebeest migration.

This safari will take place in Maasai Mara National Reserve, Kenya. The Maasai Mara National Reserve is known as Africa’s greatest reserve. It covers no less than 580 square miles. In the national park, Photographers On Safari usually concentrates on spending time watching the wildebeest crossings and the cheetah hunts. There is so much more besides them, but these are the two main reasons for coming here.

In your place of stay, Kicheche Mara Camp, you will enter a world of majestic animals, dazzling birds, sweeping grasslands, flat-topped trees and breathtaking sunsets. The games are really abundant and its location is in what is arguably the prettiest valley in the entire Masai Mara.

"I’ve just finished the first cull of the Africa pics and got the number of photographs down from the several thousand to just over seven hundred. The safari was, without a doubt, the best holiday I have been on ever! Many thanks for making it so!"

"Thank you so much for the memorable trip. I never thought that such an adventure would bring me to tears so many times. You cannot help but marvel at what you are seeing. Seeing the lioness with her youngsters walking the plains in perfect light was magical. The wildebeest crossings were awesome too. I still cannot believe I have seen the crossings in real time rather than via TV. I have bored so many people with tales of the trip. John, thank you so much for your guidance and one-to-one instruction. My photography skills have improved, especially birds in flight and composition. It cannot be easy leading a trip of different characters and giving the time needed to give each the support required. Nadine, thanks for the fun and your patience. You were a great company and thanks for the help given when I burned my hands. Kicheche was a brilliant base and the people were so friendly. The guides we had were outstanding. The whole trip was so well-organized down to the last detail. Now, I'm deciding what to do next. Despite wanting to see other parts of the world, the Mara is just calling me back. I loved it. I will be in touch when I decide what to do. Anyhow thanks again. It was a real pleasure to spend the time with you guys."
