Paradise Canopy Adventure invites you to experience a one of a kind adventure and wildlife tour. Take to the river in kayaks, flowing downstream or fighting the current upstream carried by the Madre de Dios River, one of the largest Peruvian tributaries of the Amazon. Many birds nest along these otherwise inaccessible banks of the river, flying across your path as they call you away from their hidden nests. The tour also affords you a unique opportunity to view the rich variety of flora and fauna of the tropical rainforest!
During this tour, you will be accommodated at Paradise Canopy Adventure in double rooms with a private bathroom. Upon arrival by river boat, you will be welcomed with a delicious exotic fruit juice. The path through the mature tropical forest to the hanging high canopy bridge winds its way by immense ancient trees and entangled vines; multi-hued flowers and butterflies flash through the dense foliage in pursuit of the many insects that fill the air with their songs.
On arrival of your flight or bus to Puerto Maldonado, the guides or staff will meet you at the airport or bus station and transfer you to the office to make a registration. Your excess luggage will be stored safely in the office in Puerto Maldonado and then you will continue to the Capitania Port. You take the motor boat along the Madre de Dios River for approximately 40 minutes to Paradise Canopy Adventure.
A cool welcome drink awaits you. Your first adventure will be going to the hanging high canopy bridge and zip lines. The start of the adventure circuit is to reached a tower and stairway that ascends to the treetops where a platform that marks the start of the zip-line almost 200 meters long.
The breathtaking views are only matched by the excitement of overcoming your fears and the adrenaline that courses through you as you leap off the platform supported by the high security harnesses that connect you to the zip- line cable to a platform 27m high. The 75m long of the log walkway, hanging 27m above the floor, leads off this platform, a risky balancing act, and takes you to the platform at the start of the second zip line, a 160m fly back to the tower and stairwell that descends to the forest floor.
At 12:30 p.m. return to the Paradise Canopy Adventure. After a well-deserved lunch, you take the kayaks to the river, well protected with high quality life jackets, and accompanied by a motor boat that guarantees extra security; this level one activity is relaxing and accessible for all. Getting to Monkey, Island you will be able appreciate a great diversity of monkeys such as the: capuchin, tamarines, and squirrel monkeys who will put on a show of swinging through the treetops charging down the trunks of the large trees that form their home in order to accept food from your hand .
Return to Paradise Canopy Adventure. Nocturnal activities are available and this night you have the caiman spotting.
After a great breakfast, and once lunch and snacks are distributed to each traveler, you will take the boat to get to the control of Tambopata National Reserve Zone, after one and half hour walking through the rainforest you are approaching to the famous Sandoval Lake. Its way by immense ancient trees and entangled vines; you will be able to see multihued flower and fauna including: giant otters, birds, colored butterflies, turtles, and variety of fish. You will spend few hours in canoe on this one of the most beautiful lakes in region.
Return to Paradise Canopy Adventure, dinner and rest.
Parrots and parakeets need to eat rich clay that provides them with the salts and minerals necessary to metabolize and neutralize the toxins and acids of the flowers, fruits, and seeds upon which they feed. Early each day, therefore, they congregate at the salt licks, clay walls along the rivers and streams in the Madre de Dios region of the Amazon rainforest.
At about 7:00 a.m. you back to the lodge, have breakfast, and return to Puerto Maldonado.
