Homfray Lodge is located in Homfray Channel, one of the isolated inlets of globally renowned Desolation Sound, British Columbia. It’s only reachable by our cruise from Lund, BC. It's truly an amazing wilderness lodge that allows you to get away from it all.
The lodge offers an assortment of accommodation options. They offer spacious and open private one and two chalets that sleep up to six guests, as well as cozy cedar rooms, each with private bathrooms, perfect for two guests. All-inclusive stays are available between end-August and mid-October.
Homfray Lodge original structures were erected in 2008. Substantial further improvements were added after 2011 including a new duplicate chlorine water filtration system, environmentally friendly septic system, hydroelectric system, and thanks to a river that runs through the property, with 24 / 7 power and back up generator; it is also equipped with a massive dock for 250‘ of moorage. In 2017, the lodge was re-imagined as an all-inclusive wilderness destination with all meals, wine with dinner, and complimentary water taxi from Lund and Powell River. New activities were added including eco-boat tours, grizzly bear viewing, small ship cruising, and kayaking.
Lodge Suites are perfect for couples, sleep two guests and feature a queen bed or double each with a private three-piece bathroom and Wi-Fi. Three are located on the second floor of the main lodge and one is on the main floor. The Lodge Suites are located in or just off the main Lodge and are perfect for couples and feature ocean views and some offer private balconies overlooking Homfray Channel and Foster Point.
One Lodge Suite is available with a separate small room with single bunk beds suitable for two small children. One Lodge Suite also includes a bathtub. You may request a balcony, lower floor room, bathtub or room with bunk beds, subject to availability.
Two bedroom chalets sleep up to six guests and offer ocean views of Homfray Channel. The chalets feature two rooms, each with a queen bed on the main floor, plus a loft with two queen beds, a private waterfront balcony with seating for four, a private three-piece bathroom, and a living area with a couch and table for six. There are two two-bedroom chalets available.
The one bedroom chalet sleeps four guests and offers ocean views of Homfray Channel. The one bedroom chalet features one queen bed, located in the bedroom on the main floor and two queen beds in the loft plus a private waterfront balcony with seating for two, a three-piece bathroom, and a living area with a couch and table to seat four guests.
You will depart from Homfray Lodge with a cruise to Toba Inlet. Upon arriving at the river, you will receive a warm and traditional welcome from the Klahoose Coastal Adventures guides. A short drive will transport you to specifically designed viewing areas where you can see the bears in their natural habitat from four raised and covered viewing platforms along the river. The highlight of the tour will be the chance to view the grizzly bears feeding in the natural habitat in the Canadian wilderness. The grizzly bear tours are limited to 12 guests for an intimate experience and less impact on the bears. Homfray Lodge is a proud member of the Commercial Bear Viewing Association.
Homfray Lodge is located in beautiful Desolation Sound north of Powell River and Lund, British Columbia on the Sunshine Coast; about 100 miles north of Vancouver. Lund is the closest community and you are offered a daily scheduled transfer to the lodge. The lodge is located in Homfray Channel near Foster Point. Homfray Channel is one of the deepest in North America reaching depths of 2400 feet with surrounding peaks rising up to 8000 feet.
Homfray Lodge is accessible by water or air and located in Homfray Channel in the northern part of Desolation Sound, BC. Homfray Lodge is just a 94 NM from Vancouver and 190 NM from Seattle, making it a premier wilderness destination in globally renowned Desolation Sound, British Columbia.
Toba Inlet is a deep fjord on the west coast of British Columbia. The inlet has spectacular waterfalls, glacier-fed rivers and the magnificent Coastal Mountains that rise as an imposing backdrop. Grizzly bears have free reign in these isolated and lush river estuaries and can be found foraging along the river and rugged shoreline from late summer feasting on salmon.
Six kilometers up a remote road lies the Klite River, a beautiful turquoise tributary river to the main Toba River. The Klite River is filled with salmon each fall and the grizzly bears come down from the mountains to enjoy their fill.
Daily, wholesome, family style dining with Homfray Lodge and complimentary wine and beer included with dinners. Beginning with several hot items for breakfast and lighter fare lunches, dinners will feature a variety of tasteful entrees throughout your stay. Dinner typically consists of three courses featuring a salad, then a main (like chipotle chicken, juicy pork chops, local sockeye salmon served with vegetables, rice or potatoes) and a homemade dessert. To inspire companionship, meals are generally served “family style.”

Homfray Lodge offers a complimentary scheduled cruise from Lund, departing Lund at 14:00, and if required, scheduled transfer between Powell River Airport (YPW) and Lund (45 minutes). These transfers operate once daily. Please check with Homfray Lodge to coordinate your schedule or to book your flights.
Pacific Coastal Airlines offers daily non-stop (35 minutes) flights from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) to Powell River Airport (YPW) with Pacific Coastal Airlines. From Powell River Airport (YPW), a scheduled land transfer and water taxi is available for select flights.
Sunshine Coast Air offers daily scheduled flights from Vancouver to Sechelt with a connecting flight to the lodge, as well as chartered flights. For flights with Sunshine Coast Air, please visit their website. Harbour Air offers daily scheduled flights from Vancouver, Victoria to Sechelt with connecting flights to the Lodge. Corilair offers flights direct to the lodge, from Campbell River with with a daily “mail run” flights. These sea plane flights may make stops along route in the Discovery Islands, Desolation Sound and surrounding area. Seaplane charters options are also available between the lodge and Vancouver, Victoria, Campbell River, Whistler, Tofino, Seattle and any other destination. Please leave a minimum of three hours between international arrival and departure flight connections.
If you plan to arrive with your own boat, Homfray Lodge is located on the east or mainland side of Homfray Channel just north of Forbes Bay, behind Foster Point.
