On the first night, you will be accommodated at Waqanki Lodge, while on the second night, you will stay at Owlet Lodge. On the third night, the accommodation will be at Huembo Lodge.

Night 1: Waqanki Lodge

Oriented on the total satisfaction of the visitors in order to allow them to appreciate the rich biodiversity, Waqanki Lodge offers guided tours in the botanical garden, viewpoint and trails for bird watching, restaurant and drinks, coffee route, walks in the forest and visits to waterfalls, and guided visits to the hummingbird observatory.

Night 2: Owlet Lodge

Owlet Lodge has three comfortable cabins. Each has a small lobby and spacious rooms with wood finishes and windows to observe the scenery. The lodge has a capacity for 18 tourists and eight staff employees. The accommodation includes full power.

Their facilities consist of more than three thousand hectares of natural protected areas, a tower of more than twelve meters in height, a restaurant, and a reading room. They are surrounded by hummingbird drinkers and mammal feeders, with five walking trails.

They have four well signposted trails of more than one kilometer each, where you can closely observe a variety of birds, mammals, and other endemic species in their natural habitat, living in harmony with nature.

Night 3: Huembo Lodge

Huembo Lodge has four double rooms with private bathrooms, two single rooms with private bathrooms and, finally, two single rooms with shared bathrooms. The lodge is surrounded by nature and hummingbird feeders.

There are two scenic viewpoints on-site, overlooking the waterfalls called “La Chinata” and “Junbilla”, a restaurant with a capacity of 20 people for the exclusive use of the guests, and more than 10 drinking fountains for hummingbirds.

Within the facilities they have two easy-to-reach walking trails where you will enjoy being in contact with nature and observing several species in their natural habitat.


Day 1: Tarapoto - Waqanki Lodge

The group will arrive in Tarapoto early in the morning and be greeted by the tour guide and driver who will be waiting at the airport. You will depart in the direction of Moyobamba, stopping at the Quiscarrumi Bridge to observe the oilbird.

You’ll arrive to visit the orchids of Waqanki where one can see various species of hummingbirds and beautiful native orchids. This is also a great spot to view parrots, antbirds, and the Koepcke’s hermit.

Day 2: Waqanki Lodge - Owlet Lodge

You will have breakfast at Waqanki Lodge and visit the orchid for the last time to be able to have more hummingbird sightings, and then head to Owlet Lodge. On the way, you can make a stop at the first green waters - white sand reserve. This place has tinamous and quail feeders, hummingbird drinkers, and mixed flock species.

Successively, you will continue towards the Llantería and observe some species of hummingbirds. You will arrive at the lodge in time for lunch. In the afternoon, you can visit the observation tower and, before nightfall, watch the treetops and enjoy nocturnal bird watching.

Day 3: Anexo San Lorenzo and Huembo Reserve

You will wake up very early to head towards Anexo San Lorenzo (belonging to the community of San Lucas de Pomacochas) and look for birds endemic to this zone, including various antpittas, tanagers, and hummingbirds. Later in the afternoon, you will leave for Huembo Reserve to observe numerous hummingbirds, including the marvelous spatuletail.

Day 4: Departure

After breakfast, you will head towards Tarapoto, stopping for lunch in Moyobamba, and arrive at Tarapoto airport in the afternoon in time for your flight back to Lima.
