Itinerary
Day 1: Arusha / Tarangire National Park
In the morning, Operation Kilimanjaro's driver will pick you up from Arusha airport at 8:40 a.m. and drive to Tarangire National Park by land cruiser. You will cross the Maasai Steppe on your way to Tarangire National Park, Tanzania’s fourth largest and one of its most diverse. Stop at the picturesque park gate for the driver to fill out the park's registration book. You will go for a full-day game drive in the park, enjoying the wildlife. Soon, the impressive Great Rift Valley Escarpment will come into view—a 2,000-foot-high wall rising steeply and dramatically from the flat plains. Elephant, buffalo, and python are easily seen and regularly cross your path, unbothered by your benign presence as they go about their daily routines. You will meander along bush tracks and explore the Tarangire River’s twists and turns, finding elephants drinking and playing in the refreshing waters. In the evening, drive to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Karatu / Serengeti National Park
Have an early breakfast before driving to the Serengeti's endless plains for afternoon and sunset game drives in the park. You will make your way around the southern edge of the crater rim, spotting occasional hyena, elephant, or African buffalo along the way. By late morning, you will arrive at the famed Serengeti National Park. The plains seem endless from this vantage point. Stop to enjoy your picnic lunch at Naabi Hill before meandering through the wildlife-rich central Serengeti. Later in the evening at your camp, you can settle into your accommodation before joining other travelers in the camp dining area for some palate teasers in anticipation of a scrumptious meal. Afterwards, gather around the campfire before heading off to bed. Relax in your comfortable surroundings tonight as you are lulled to sleep by the sounds of the Serengeti plains.

Day 3: Serengeti / Serengeti National Park
Have a full day discovering the Serengeti on a game drive. Today is the day for the big cats—you will spot cheetah, leopard, and lion. Begin with a sunrise game drive at 6:00 a.m., followed by breakfast at 8:30 a.m., then continue with more game drives until lunchtime. After lunch, continue your afternoon game drive until sunset, after which you will return to the camp for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Serengeti / Ngorongoro Crater Floor
Rise early for breakfast before driving to Ngorongoro to spend a half day exploring the crater floor. The area is world-renowned and compact in size. You will certainly see other safari-goers, but don’t let that distract you from the beauty of the place or from the rare chance to see all of the Big Five at once: lion, leopard, bull elephant, African buffalo, and black rhino. To maximize your time, enjoy a special boxed lunch at a scenic picnic spot. Your journey will take you through this tremendous landscape, which is constantly changing as animals move in search of pasture, water, or prey. Later in the afternoon, drive to Karatu for dinner and overnight stay.
