Tours Daniel invites you to a wildlife tour in Peru! Here, you will have the time and space to explore the various flora and fauna in Manu National Park. Guided by Tours Daniel's expert, you will not only have the chances to see the exotic animals, but gain knowledge of them. Manu National Park offers a wide range of animals, including the spectacle bear, cock-of-the-rock, vultures, various insects, and more!

Accommodation

During this safari, you will be staying at San Pedro de Orquideas Lodge on the first night and at Erika Lodge for the rest of the nights.

Program

Day 1: Cusco (3,300 meters above sea level), Andes (3,650 meters above sea level), and Cloud Forest (1,700 meters above sea level)

You will leave Cusco early in the morning in one of Tours Daniel’s vehicles. You will pass through interesting valleys and picturesque communities. You will visit pre-Incan tombs and then stop in Paucartambo, a beautiful colonial town. Here, you can visit a very interesting museum. The lunch will be en-route with packed foods. The tour will continue to the cloud forest, an area rich with endemic species like the spectacled bear, the cock-of-the-rock, a variety of orchids, bromeliads, and ferns etc. Take in the beautiful nature as you make your way to San Pedro de Orquideas Lodge where you will spend your first night in the comfortable accommodation.

Day 2: Cloud Forest - Erika Lodge (400 meters above sea level)

Very early you will go in search of the cock-of-the-rock, the national bird of Peru, that has a very unique courtship dance. After breakfast, you will continue to the small town of Pilcopata, then to the Port of Atalaya, which is located on the shores of the Madre de Dios River (700 meters above sea level). Here, you will take a boat to the private reserve of “Erika”. On the boat, you will be able to see an

enormous diversity of bird species such as herons, vultures, cormorants, etc.

After that, you will walk along the interesting trails that are in the transition zone between high and low jungle and your guide will point out and explain the interesting diversity of wildlife that surrounds you. There will be a chance for a night walk to catch a glimpse of insects and amphibians. The overnight will be at Erika Lodge.

  • Free option: rafting in Pilcopata for 90 minutes (grade I and II) on the Koñeq and / or Madre de Dios Rivers. You can enjoy the beautiful landscape and have a swim in the refreshing water.

Day 3: Erika Lodge

During the morning walk, the guide will point out and explain the interesting variety of wildlife around you. You will board a boat to cross the river and follow a trail for 30 minutes and observe the interesting flora such as the sensitive plants, heliconias, fruit, etc. After that, you will walk to Lake Machuwasi, where there will be paddle rafts you can use to observe the birds like the primitive hoatzin, alligators, monkeys, and capybaras with luck. There will also be a night of walking around the lodge to catch a glimpse of a variety of insects and amphibians.

  • Free option: canopy zip line. In Erika, the guests can glide from tree to tree and from platform to platform with a harness on a horizontal cable rail system at high speeds above the trees in the incredible Amazon jungle. You then rappel from a height of 15 meters back to the jungle floor.

Day 4: Aguas Calientes

Very early you take a short walk to see a large and impressive ceiba buttress tree. After breakfast, we take our boat down the Alto Madre de Dios River for 90 minutes for an interesting and exciting trip to the hot springs of Aguas Calientes surrounded by the beautiful forest. After relaxing in the water and a refreshing cold lunch, you will return to Erika Lodge.

Day 5: Erika Lodge - Cusco

Very early you will board a boat and make your way to Collpa, a clay wall by the river where a variety of parrots such as the blue-headed parrot, the white-eyed parakeet, possibly the Maracana macaw, and others come every morning to substitute their diet with minerals and salts. After this activity, you will return to Erika for breakfast. After breakfast and packing up, you will take a boat back to Atalaya Port where a vehicle will be waiting to take you back to Cusco. Lunch will be en route to Cusco and arrive early evening. End of tours.
