Thrilling Wildlife Experience Peru

Spend your several days in Peru to watch some things you might not have seen before in Manu National Park! In this wildlife experience, you will have full days to watch and observe beautifully birds, a glimpse of insects, and amphibians. Not only that, you will also experience some historical sites in Peru. In addition, there will be a bilingual guide to accompany you during the safari. There will be no regrets once you come here.

During this safari, you will be staying at San Pedro de Orquideas Lodge and Erika Lodge, provided by Tours Daniel.



Day 1: Cusco - Andes - Cloud Forest

You leave Cusco early in the morning in one of the vehicles. You will pass through interesting valleys and picturesque communities. You will visit pre Incan tombs and then you will stop in Paucartambo, a beautiful colonial town. Here, you will visit a very interesting museum. You will have a packed lunch en route. You continue to the cloud forest, an area rich with endemic species like the spectacled bear, the cock of the rock, a variety of orchids, bromeliads, and ferns, etcetera. Take in the beautiful nature as you make your way to San Pedro de Orquideas Lodge where you will spend your first night in your comfortable accommodation.

Day 2: Cloud Forest - Erika Lodge

Very early, you will go in search of the cock of the rock, the national bird of Peru, that has a very unique courtship dance. After breakfast, you will continue to the small town of Pilcopata, then to the Port of Atalaya, which is located on the shores of the Madre de Dios River (700 meters above sea level). Here, you will take a boat to your private reserve of “Erika”. From the boat, you will be able to see an enormous diversity of bird species such as herons, vultures, and cormorants, etcetera. You will walk along the interesting trails that are in the transition zone between high and low jungle and your guide will point out and explain the interesting diversity of wildlife that surrounds you. You will have the chance for a night walk to catch a glimpse of insects and amphibians. You will have an overnight in your Erika Lodge.

  • One free option - rafting: In Pilcopata, you will have 90 minutes of rafting (grade I and II) on the Koñeq and / or Madre de Dios Rivers. You can enjoy the beautiful landscape and have a swim in the refreshing wáter.
  • Two free option - canopy zip line: In Erika, guests can glide from tree to tree and from platform to platform with a harness on a horizontal cable rail system at high speeds above the trees in the incredible Amazon jungle. You then rappel from a height of 15 meters back to the jungle floor

Day 3: Erika Lodge - Cusco

Very early, you board your boat and make your way to Collpa, a clay wall by the river where a variety of parrots such as the blue-headed parrot, the white-eyed parakeet, possibly the Maracana macaw, and others come every morning to substitute their diet with minerals and salts. After this activity, you return to Erika for breakfast. After breakfast, you pack up and take your boat back to Atalaya Port where your vehicle will be waiting to take you back to Cusco. You have lunch en route to Cusco and arrive early evening. End of service.

Variations in itineraries

The company reserves the right to modify any itinerary if necessary, to safeguard the interests of the customers. Any decision regarding the change of itinerary will be according to the criterion of the specialized guide who during the trip is representative of the company. If itinerary changes are made at the express wish of the client, all additional expenses incurred due to the changes must be paid by him.

Boat transportation

  • All the boats are 20-foot long, roofed canoes with four strokes outboard motors.
  • Transfer in (Puerto Maldonado to lodge): two departures daily at 13:00 and 14:00.
  • Transfer-out (lodge to Puerto Maldonado): two departures daily at 07:00 and 08:00.
