During this safari tour, you will be staying at the following accommodations:
You will be picked up at your hotel at 7:30 a.m. and join the group safari at Okoa Africa Tours's office where you will start the safari by drive to Maasai Mara, passing through the Great Rift Valley which is from the Northern to Southern Africa with lunch en route. After lunch, proceed with the game drive to Maasai Mara National Reserve.
This enormous reserve is actually part of the vast Serengeti plains famously known for its spectacular Great Wildebeest’s Migration and is home of the Big Five (lion, elephant, leopard, buffalo, and rhino). On arrival, you will enjoy an introductory evening game drive. Dinner and overnight at AA Lodge.
Full day game drives from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. with packed lunch. This game drive will be in search of great predators and perhaps even cubs. On the plains are enormous herds of grazing animals plus the elusive cheetah and leopard hiding amidst Acacia boughs.
The endless plains of East Africa are the setting of the world’s greatest spectacle - the pounding of over six million hooves from the vast Serengeti plains to the Champagne colored hills of Kenya’s Masai Mara.
Over one million wildebeest, 300,000 Thompson gazelles, and some 200,000 zebras relentlessly tracked by Africa’s greatest predators, migrate in a clockwise fashion over 1,800 miles each year in search of green pastures. This continual perilous trek in search of nature’s big green carpet involves no beginning or end to a wildebeest journey.
A wildebeest's life is an endless pilgrimage, a continual search of food, water, and pasture. The only beginning is at birth. Estimated 400,000 wildebeest calves are born during a six week period early each year - usually between late January and mid March.
As for when to see this annual event, consider July to August as best time to witness crossing at Mara River. The Mara offers wildlife in such variety and abundance that it is difficult to believe: over 450 species of animals have been recorded here.
You will easily see lions, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, giraffe, wildebeests, zebras, buffalo, warthogs, hyenas, jackals, wild dogs, buffalo, leopard, many kinds of antelopes and elephant. It is in the Mara that perhaps the most spectacular event of the natural world takes place.
This is the annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra from the Serengeti (Tanzania) in search of water and pasture. Following on their heels are the predators of the savannah - lion, cheetah, wild dog, jackal, hyena, and vultures.
Take a break for lunch and after proceed with a game drive up to 4 p.m. It will further take you to the famous Mara River where you will take your lunch along the banks amazing at the hippos and the crocodiles. The river is the gateway of the annual migration of wildebeest from Serengeti to Maasai Mara.
You could also have an optional opportunity to visit a village of the Maasai people (20 USD per person) or an early morning hot air balloon with Champagne breakfast at an extra cost of 450 USD per person. Dinner and overnight at AA Lodge.
Have an early morning game drive from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. Afterwards, return to the camp for breakfast, after which you will drive to Lake Nakuru National Park. Makie a stop at Mai Mahiu town for lunch then proceed to Lake Nakuru, arriving in the evening. Check in at Lake Nakuru Lodge for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, go for a game drive at Lake Nakuru National Park up to 11 a.m. Lake Nakuru is known all over the world for its pink flamingo and rhinos. At times, there may be almost flamingos gathering along the lake’s shore. Besides the flamingos, there are roughly 400 other species of birds visiting the lake as well as many species of wildlife.
Exit the park then drive to Amboseli with lunch en route. After lunch, you will arrive at the tented camp late in the evening. Dinner and overnight at AA Lodge.
Enjoy a full day game drive from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. After breakfast, leave for morning game drive in search of the Big Five. Against this magnificent backdrop roam vast herds of elephant accompanied by a kaleidoscope of other fabulous beasts -lion, buffalo, cheetah, giraffe, baboon, gazelle hippo and wildebeest to name but a few.
There are also over 400 species of birds, all manner of reptilian, flora, and fauna and some of the most soul-searing views in Africa. With an afternoon game drive up to 6 p.m., search for African elephants and other Big Five animals.
During the game drive, you will see the snow-capped Mt. Kilimanjaro before sunset. The park offers a perfect view of Africa's highest mountain, Mt. Kilimanjaro, in the backdrop! Dinner and overnight at AA Lodge.
Have breakfast at the lodge then depart with game drive enroute to Namanga. Exit the park at 10 a.m. and drive to the Namanga border where you will board the shuttle to Arusha. On your arrival at the bus station, you will be picked by Okoa Africa Tours' drive guide / representative and drop you at your hotel for dinner and overnight at Mount Meru Hotel.
You will be picked up from your hotel at 8 a.m. and drive on tarmac road for about 130 kilometers with packed lunch box to Lake Manyara National Park (330 square kilometers or 127 square miles) on the base of the Great Rift Valley, for an afternoon game drive.
Lake Manyara provides the perfect introduction to Tanzania’s birdlife. More than 400 species have been recorded and even a first-time visitor to Africa might reasonably expect to observe 100 of these in one day. Highlights include thousands of pink-hued flamingos on their perpetual migration, as well as other large water birds such as pelicans, cormorants and storks.
The park is home to lion, hippo, elephant, zebra, buffalo, giraffe, baboon, Blue and Vervet monkeys, warthogs, and more. About 350 species of birds have been recorded. This small park contains also five distinct vegetation zones, thus supporting a large variety of birds and animals.
Lake Manyara National Park is also famous for its large flocks of flamingos. In this park, canoeing has recently been added to the tourist activities in this park at an extra cost. This is a great way to see the park from a new perspective. Dinner and overnight at Buridika Lodge.
Have breakfast at 6 a.m. Thereafter drive to the Great Serengeti National Park (14,763 square kilometers or 5,700 square miles) with your packed picnic lunch packed. You will have game drives en route via the Ngorongoro Crater rim.
The Serengeti National Park is arguably the most impressive wildlife sanctuary in the world. During the months of December through March, the seemingly unending plains of the southern Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area are inhabited by enormous herds of wildebeest and zebra. The great herds graze on rain ripened grass.
Serengeti National Park is a home to lions, leopards, elephants, cheetahs, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeests, elands, wild dogs, gazelles, crocodiles, and more. Lot of birds, including the Eurasia migrants, also inhabit the park. Dinner and overnight at Seronera Wildlife Lodge / Kisura Luxury Tented Camp.
Spend another day at Serengeti National Park which translates into a better game viewing and photography experience, and enjoy every single moment of your safari. Summed up as "one of the most unique areas in the world", Serengeti contains the largest remaining concentration of plains game in Africa, on a scale, which has no parallel anywhere else in the world. Overnight at Seronera Wildlife Lodge.
Wake up at 6 a.m. for an early morning game drive in Serengeti National Park, Tanzania's oldest and most popular national park.
Also a world heritage site and recently proclaimed as Seventh Wonder of the World, the Serengeti is famed for its annual migration, when some six million hooves pound the open plains, as more than 200,000 zebra and 300,000 Thomson's gazelle join the wildebeest’s trek for fresh grazing.
At around 9 a.m., drive back to the camp for breakfast. Then check out and drive with lunch and game viewing en route to Ngorongoro Crater. You have the option to visit the Olduvai Gorge at an extra fee. Dinner and overnight at Rhino Lodge.
Wake up early morning for breakfast, then at 7:30 a.m. drive to Ngorongoro Crater where you will descend into the crater floor (19.2 kilometers of diameter, 610 meter deep, 304 square km) for game drives.
All the Big Five (rhino, lion, leopard, buffalo, and elephant) live in this wonderful caldera, others are zebra, hippo, wildebeest, hyena, and more. Birds includes flamingos on the soda lake, geese, storks, vultures, and more. Take a break for lunch at Ngoitoktok Spring picnic site, it will be an unforgettable experience.
Ngorongoro Crater is often called 'Africa's Eden', the 'Eighth Natural Wonder of the World'. A massive extinct volcano, its towering tree lined walls drop thousands of feet to a "Noah's Ark" of animals on the verdant floor below. This breathtaking oasis provides a haven for both predator and prey to live among grasslands, fresh springs and the large soda lake.
Large herds of zebra, buffalo, antelope, and wildebeest graze nearby while sleeping lions laze in the sun. At dawn, the endangered black rhino returns to the thick cover of the crater forests after grazing on dew-laden grass in the morning mist. Nowhere else can such diversity in wildlife be experienced in such a short period of time.
After that, drive to Nairobi passing through Namanga border. Arrive in Nairobi late in the evening and check in at the hotel for overnight.
After your breakfast at 10 a.m., you will be picked up at your hotel and drive back to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) for your home flight. End of safari.
