Program

Day 1: Moshi / Arusha to Tarangire National Park

In the morning, Nyange Adventures will pick you up from your hotel in Moshi or Arusha and drive to Tarangire National Park, which is known for its huge baobab trees and large herds of elephants. Its sparse vegetation makes it a beautiful and special location, where up to 300 elephants can be found, looking for underground streams in the dry riverbeds. Migratory wildebeest, zebra, and buffalo can also be seen crowding the shrinking lagoons. Here you will enjoy an afternoon game drive with a picnic lunch.

  • Overnight stay at Heaven Nature Campsite.

Day 2: Tarangire National Park to Serengeti National Park

Today, you will drive to one of the most famous game parks in Africa, the Serengeti! Known to host one of the most amazing wildlife spectacles on earth - the Great Migration of wildebeest and zebra - the Serengeti’s vast plains are also home to a haven of other wildlife, including lions, cheetahs, leopards and many other predators.

  • Overnight stay at Pimbi Campsite.

Day 3: Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro Highlands

This morning, after enjoying a beautiful Serengeti sunrise, you’ll catch a glimpse of lions and other predators on their morning hunt during your first game drive. After brunch, you’ll then leave the park and go for the final game drive of the day while on your way to the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, one of Africa’s seven natural wonders! Before dinner is served, enjoy awesome views of the crater below.

  • Overnight stay at the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater at the Simba Campsite.

Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater to Moshi / Arusha

Today you’ll rise early in the morning to descend the 600-meter high walls to the floor of the crater and get up close with one of Africa’s seven natural wonders! Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is considered one of the most beautiful and unique places in Africa. Here you will find a haven of African wildlife and you might also be lucky enough to witness the endangered Rhino! Enjoy a game drive and brunch by the hippo pool before driving back to Moshi, Arusha, or Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO).

Location

This safari tour will take you from Moshi / Arusha to Tarangire National Park, Serengeti National Park, and Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania.

Tarangire National Park

Located 120 kilometers from Arusha, Tarangire is the sixth largest park in Tanzania and is a popular stop for wildlife safaris travelling through the Northern Circuit on their way to Ngorongoro and the Serengeti. Most famous for its huge baobab trees, the park’s gentle rolling countryside is dotted with these trees, which seem to dwarf the animals that feed beneath them.

The park owes its name to Tarangire River which flows across the area and attracts high numbers of migrant animals during the dry months. Its banks are characterized by dense vegetation of acacia and mixed woodland, while the surrounding area is dominated by huge baobab trees, and to a lesser prominence, old doum palm trees and black cotton grass.

While the Tarangire is also known for its huge population of elephants, where up to 300 can be found, it is also common to see migratory wildebeest, hartebeest, zebra, and buffalo crowding the shrinking lagoons. Abandoned termite mounds often house mongoose colonies. All the main predators are present, but because of thick vegetation, they are not spotted as often as in some of the other parks in Northern Tanzania.

Serengeti National Park

Stretching across 14,763 square kilometers, the Serengeti is one of the most famous parks in Tanzania and is synonymous with the wildlife and classic scenery associated with Africa. The park features stunning landscapes scattered with acacia trees and never-ending dusty, grassland plains that go on for as far as the eye can see.

This park offers some of the best wildlife viewing in Africa, with all the major safari animals and predators often seen in great numbers. It is also the home to the annual wildebeest migration, where over two million wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle migrate from the Serengeti to the Masai Mara Reserve in Kenya in search for fresh grassland.

Ngorongoro Crater

Listed as a UNESCO site, the Ngorongoro Crater is considered one of the most beautiful and unique places in Africa. The Ngorongoro was once a mountain as high as Kilimanjaro, however three million years ago it blew up, covering the Serengeti in ash while the crater floor sank into the mountain. It is the world’s largest complete volcanic caldera, with a rim of just over 600 meters at its highest point.

Here you will find a haven of wildlife, as the crater alone has over 20,000 large animals (half of them zebra and wildebeest). This includes sightings of the endangered black rhino, which are very difficult to spot elsewhere in Tanzania. The crater is also home to some very impressive elephant bulls with huge tusks.

Animals are free to leave or enter the crater but most of them stay because of the abundance of water and food available in the crater throughout the year. One animal lacking inside the crater though is the giraffe, who cannot negotiate the steep cliffs easily.
