Your evenings can be spent sitting by the fire enjoying a cocktail or watching the sunset from the viewing platform.

Nyaleti Lodge has three en-suite guest rooms with private patios. They are detached from the owner’s house and share a boma (outdoor fire area), lounge and pool area.

Nyaleti Villa (only 100 meters away) is a separate house with a gorgeous honeymoon suite and two additional en-suite rooms sharing the common areas of the house which include a pool, TV room, viewing deck, and boma.

Both properties are surrounded by beautifully manicured gardens featuring indigenous plants that attract many species of local birds. Some favorites are the entertaining hornbills, woodland kingfishers, the call of the go-away-bird, and the occasional owl.

Everyone has access to the elevated viewing platform which you won’t want to miss. This is a great place to watch the sunset, look for some of the resident animals, or do some great bird watching. There are bird books and binoculars available to borrow in reception.


Big Five mornings and sunset game drives

Experience a three-hour Big Five safari with experienced qualified guides in a private reserve which is part of the Greater Kruger National Park and only a 25-minute drive from Hoedspruit, You will be driving off-road in an open safari vehicle. Morning drives include a bus stop for coffee. Sunset drives include a bus stop for a sundowner as well as a short night drive-by spotlight.

Kruger full day trip

Visit the iconic Kruger National Park with experienced qualified guides in a private open safari vehicle. This is a full day safari allowing for maximum game viewing opportunities. Departure times vary by season but generally depart at 5:30 a.m., returning at 4 p.m.

You will be provided a packed breakfast and you will stop at a rest camp to purchase lunch. Bottled water is available on the vehicle. Includes Kruger entrance fee.

Panoramic full day tour

The Panorama Route is one of the world’s most beautiful driving routes that connects several cultural and natural points of interest. It is a must-see on everyone’s travel itinerary. You will discover the Blyde River Canyon, the world’s third largest canyon, as well as the Mac-Mac falls, God’s Window, the Three Rondawels, and Bourke’s Luck Potholes. You will enjoy a stop at the small town of Graskop for lunch and shopping. This tour is approximately nine to ten hours.


Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate is home to zebra, giraffe, impala, nyala, warthog, wildebeest, waterbuck, and hyena (to name a few) which roam freely. The absence of elephants, lions, buffaloes, and rhinos make it safe to explore on foot. If you are lucky, you might see one of the elusive resident leopards!

The estate has several walking trails and dirt roads for self-game drives. There are also three dams that give you excellent wildlife viewing opportunities. The estate is very secure with gated access and 24/7 private security.

The quaint tourist town of Hoedspruit is only five minutes from Nyaleti Lodge's front door with many fantastic restaurants to enjoy for lunch and / or dinner. The lodge offers lunch baskets should you be out on a day excursion - please notify them the day prior.


All guests enjoy their breakfast in the lounge at Nyaleti Lodge from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Your first course starts with local juices, homemade muesli, yogurts, fruit, and tasty baked goods. Your second course is a home cooked hot breakfast.

The lodge features something each day that aligns with guest’s dietary requirements. After your gourmet breakfast, you will be ready to start your day!

Blyde dam boat cruise

Enjoy the splendor of the Blyde River Canyon. A knowledgeable tour guide will take you to the rare living Kadashi Tufa waterfall and the Three Rondawels. You may see hippos, crocodiles, and fish eagles while learning about the natural history of the third largest canyon in the world.

Quad bike trail ride

The trail will take you through riverine forests and bushveld surroundings in the foothills of the Mariepskop Mountains with the opportunity to see small animals. Closed on Sundays and Mondays. Does not operate if raining. Please wear closed toe shoes.

Horseback riding on the estate

A qualified guide will take you on a unique horseback ride through the Wildlife Estate. Experience with horse riding is not required, but there is 95 kilo weight limit. Long trousers and closed shoes are required. Closed on Sundays.

Hoedspruit Endangered Species Center

HESC is recognized as a pioneer in the conservation of rare, vulnerable, and endangered animal species. The center is home to cheetah, wild dogs, black-footed cats, ground hornbills, and many other species. Guided tours in an open vehicle. Departs daily every two hours between 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Moholoholo Wildlife Rehabilitation Center

The Moholoholo team are highly dedicated conservationists committed to preserving Africa’s wildlife and are extremely passionate about sharing their intimate knowledge. Many animals are unable to be released back into the wild and are used as “ambassadors” for their respective species. Therefore, you can have an up close and personal experience. Closed on Sundays.

Microflight flying safari

Get a birds-eye view with this experience of a lifetime. You’ll see for miles as you soar above the ground with opportunities to spot Big Five wildlife. You have the option to sit and enjoy the flight or you can have a hands-on experience. Subject to weather conditions.

Walking safari

Experience the African Bush in the most intimate way possible - on foot! You will enjoy the peace and tranquility of walking on a Big Five reserve. Your game ranger will share in-depth knowledge of the bush - all things big and small! Walks last approximately three hours and you must be at the gate at 6 a.m.

How to get there

Recommended Airports

Directions from OR Tambo International Airport (JNB) (approximately 5 hours)

  • Take the N12 / N4 towards Witbank
  • It will merge with the N4 from Pretoria, the main route to Nelspruit
  • After Middelburg, take the Belfast off-ramp R540 and follow the signs to Dullstroom and then Lydenburg
  • After Lydenburg, follow the R36 route to Ohrigstad – through the Abel Erasmus pass and tunnel and then onto Hoedspruit.
  • Drive through the town and over a railway bridge until you get to the R40 T-junction. Turn right onto the R40
  • At the four way stop, turn left. You will see a large Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate billboard. Follow the road for about 300 meters past the Pick n Pay Centre to the entrance of the Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate.
  • Once at the entrance, follow the signs to the visitors’ entrance and let security know that you are going to stand 312, Nyaleti Lodge and let security know that you are going to stand 312, Nyaleti Lodge.
  • Once inside the Estate turn left on Rostvy
  • Turn right on Maroela
  • 312 is Nyaleti Lodge (and check in)
  • 310 is Nyaleti Villa
