You will stay three nights at Kafue River Lodge, two nights at Lunga Kikuji Camp, and four nights at Kasonso Busanga Camp. When coming to any one of the three Northern Kafue Safaris camps, you can expect to find a landscape untamed, an abundance of wildlife, birding, and the beauty of Zambia on full show.

Kafue River Lodge (3 nights)

Kafue River Lodge is your reward at the end of your journey into the North-Eastern Kafue. The stretch of the Kafue River where the lodge is located is varied, gentle, and favored by wildlife. The four ensuite chalets overlook the river and the sounds of hippos carry clearly across the grounds with the miombo woodland behind camp also playing home to a steady stream of game and birds.

Kafue River Lodge has four ensuite chalets and two central areas - an open, riverside “fire pit” for starlit dining and early morning coffee and the beautiful main lapa area which is built on a deck over the river offering cool shade and 180-degree river views. The Kafue River Lodge cottages have been designed in a way that allows you to settle into this little piece of paradise for an extended stay. Each of the four ensuite chalets consists of two queen beds, a fireplace, a freestanding bath, an outdoor shower, and teak decking. The entire lodge is run on solar power so there are plugs in the chalets for charging equipment.

Lunga Kikuji Camp (2 nights)

Kikuji Camp is the most secluded and exciting new camp in the portfolio. Tucked away in the riverine vegetation on the banks of the Lunga River, this wilderness is waiting to be explored. Ideal for the keen birder, water lover, fishermen, and lovers of time and space, Kikuji compliments the more intense Kasonso and more accessible Kafue River Lodge very well.

Kikuji Camp is built in a similar style to Kasonso being primarily a comfortable and intimate bush camp with the focus being on appreciating the secluded wilderness around you. The four safari suites are built with canvas walls, gauze windows, and thatched rooves on wooden decks. All rooms have detached but private ablution with a flush toilet, shower, and a basin sink.

Kasonso Busanga Camp (4 nights)

The Busanga Plains is undoubtedly the best place for wildlife viewing in Kafue National Park and Kasonso Busanga - a bushcamp - is located right in the heart of the prime game viewing area. The Busanga Plains area is perfectly situated to see large numbers of red lechwe but is also well known for the big lions, buffalo, elephants, wildebeest, and relaxed roan antelope. Kasonso offers superb wildlife encounters at excellent value-for-money rates and combines superbly with Kafue River Lodge and Kikuji Camp.

Kasonso Busanga Camp is situated in a more central location in the Busanga Plains closer to the action and is more accessible early and for longer in the year. The team running the camp is Idos and Newton Mulenga (the father and son team formerly of Wilderness Safaris) and Ferrison who is one of the top birding guides in Zambia.

Kasonso is an authentic bush camp that provides all the important fundamentals of a comfortable camp but focuses on outstanding guiding and wildlife experience. There are four tents, each with ensuite bathrooms and verandahs overlooking the plains. In the central Boma area, you will find a comfortable seating area, bar, and an outside deck which you can use at your leisure.
