If seeing the wildebeest migration (either calving or river crossings) is on your bucket list, this wildebeest migration safari is the trip for you! Travel by air to the vast open plains of the Serengeti, grasslands dotted with wildebeest herds moving in unison for freshwater and grazing. Bunching up at rivers, teetering bravely on the edge before leaping into the churning waters attempting to cross and avoid the crocodiles, ever-waiting for an opportunity to grab a straggler.
During this trip, you will be staying at various campsites. On night one, you will be staying in a camp or lodge in Arusha. On night two, you will be staying at Bushman Campsite. On night three, you will be staying at Nyani Campsite. And on night four, you will be staying at Ngorongoro Simba Camp.
Nyani Campsite is one of the most frequented public campsites in the Seronera area, located a few kilometers east of the tourist information center. Although most of the campsites in the area are similar, it is one of few that are on level ground and well-sheltered from winds, meaning fewer cold nights. It is a tents-only camp with the only facilities provided being separate kitchen and dining areas, a water supply, along with modern toilets and bathrooms - with a separate side for men and women. The kitchen operates on a self-catering basis.
"Simba Campsite lies on the very rim of Ngorongoro Crater and has an excellent view across the caldera. A fantastic sunrise over the crater rim makes a fine breakfast scene. Often, there are elephants wandering around the camp. This campsite is guarded. Tents have mats, and bathrooms are outside the tent. Facilities at Simba Campsite are basic, but this is more than made up for by the atmosphere of this camp in the clouds.
