11 Days Budget Camping and Zanzibar Beach Holiday Safari in Tanzania

Backpackers Hotel, Station Road, Arusha, Tanzania

Diverse Safari Tanzania

This tour starts with a camping safari in the northern national parks. Tanzania's northern parks are a true African experience and one of its main attractions. There, witness the Great Serengeti Migration, when millions of wildebeests, gazelles, and zebras roam the plains in search of food. The entire Tanzanian ecosystem is on display of birds, reptiles, mammals, and the mighty savanna acacia trees. The parks stretch across a varied landscape from wooded hills in the north to the southern grassy plains. During this safari, you will stay in igloo-type tents which can be shared by two people or for private use. While in Zanzibar, the accommodation will be in budget motels which are located next to the beach. Adventure camps are a budget option with guests bringing their own sleeping bags and towels and accommodations are in small dome tents with a mattress on the floor. Each tent has its own nearby cubicle with a flush toilet, safari shower, and wash basin.

The adventure camps are suitable only for those who do not mind "real camping" and can put up with some degree of "roughing it." Apart from the accommodation in simple dome tents, the meals and the guiding are at the same standard as the higher quality camps and game drives are in four-by-four safari vehicles. Safari or bucket showers are common in mobile or tented camps where there is no permanent plumbing.

They are an effective yet environmentally friendly way to shower where water is at a premium and provide plenty of hot water to wash comfortably. Generally, there is an en-suite private shower stall within your tent with a "rainfall" style shower head at which you can control the water flow. Outside the tent, there is a large waterproof bag or bucket which is filled with about 10 to 15 liter or, five US gallons, of hot water before being raised with a pully or rope system to either connect to the shower pipe or fill a cistern.

The water is delivered at the ideal temperature so it is best to use it as soon as it arrives. The staff typically fills the showers at a pre-arranged time of day or you simply need to give them a few minutes' notice so they can get it ready. Complimentary laundry service is offered at many camps and lodges.

Please note that the tour can be upgraded to a higher standard accommodation at an extra cost. It can also be cheaper if less expensive, but still good quality, accommodation is used. The final cost of the tour depends on your budget and preference.
