Paul invites you to join him with Mzansi Safari Africa to take you on an adventure just 2.5 hours outside of Durban. He will lead you into the heart of Big Five country and Zululand! Here, he will find and show you various wild animals such as lions, giraffes, rhinoceros, elephants, and many more. While the focus of the game drives will be around the north side of the park, the south side also holds many wonders for us to explore during your stay. As your guide,Paul will suggest times and routes each day and drive you through the game reserve to spot fantastic animals.
During this safari, you will be provided with two nights of accommodation.
The Safari starts early from Durban and travels north along the coast. You will travel 2.5 hours to Zululand where the world famous Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Park lies. Your first stop will be st Lucia.St Lucia is an Estuary and wet land. It has hundreds of hippopotamus and crocodiles. Here, you will board a river cruiser and spend two hours looking for hippopotamus and crocodiles. There are also around 500 different bird species in the area. Fish eagles, kingfishers, and other water birds are often seen.
After a good lunch (own expense), you will drive to the entrance of the game reserve. After formalities, your first game drive will start. Your overnight camp is about an hour drive through the park. Depending on what you see on the way, it may take a little longer.
After checking in, you will relax for a while before going out on an afternoon game drive. This is a great opportunity to see elephants, lions, giraffe, and numerous antelope species. In the evening, you will have an optional open safari vehicle drive for 330 ZAR per person (own account).
*Meal plan: Dinner
This day will probably have an early start. The night before, your guide will discuss options of what to do for the day. You may go out when the gate opens for a three-hour game drive before returning to the camp for a scrumptious buffet breakfast.
The earlier you start, the better, as cats and hyenas are more active early morning. It’s also a great time to see rhinoceros marking their territory.
There will also be optional extras like more drives (own account). You can also do a full day game drive and explore the south side of the park. A packed breakfast will be taken along to enjoy at a picnic site. The big bonus on the south side is the larger number of cats. Lions and cheetah are regularly seen in the south.
After a final game drive and a delicious breakfast, you will start our way out of the Game reserve. You will have some time to keep looking for those animals not yet seen or maybe some optional activities
Dinners and breakfasts are buffet styles with a bit of everything for most people. You will also get limited bottled water.
