Canoe safari

During the canoe safari, you will come to discover lifeline of the park, Mole River, by canoe. It is an excellent river for first-timers or group trips because of its meandering and gentle flow. A 35-minute drive from Mole National Park, the canoe safari on the Mole River can be one of the most relaxing, healthy, and enjoyable ways to spend an hour with the folks of Mognori.

Driving safari

Mole Boy Travel & Safe Guide Tours' safari vehicles each carry up to nine people including a guide and driver in air-conditioned comfort and bucket seats, each with unobstructed window views. Driving safaris cover terrain throughout the southeastern portions of the park, including open hardpans covered with grass, waterholes, forest, and manmade “hides” where visitors may observe wildlife from outside the vehicles.

Walking safari

On walking safari, you may be able to approach elephants or other wildlife within a few meters at the guide’s discretion. The guides are deeply knowledgeable about the park’s flora and fauna and willingly share what they know about the 350 bird species, 93 mammal species, 33 reptile species, and innumerable flowers, plants, as well as invertebrates that make up the park’s ecosystem. Walking safaris are not generally physically strenuous and rarely cover more than a couple of kilometers in a two-hour period.

Daily schedule

Day 1: Accra – Tamale (by Air) – Damongo (125km/3hrs)

Catch up with a morning section flight from Accra to Tamale. On arrival at the tamale airport. You will be met by a local representative from Mole Boy Travel And Safe Guide Tours for a transfer to the Damongo. Then relax and have a hiking tour around 4 pm - 5 pm in Damongo.

(End of day tour) Overnight stay at Damongo.

Day 2: Leave Damongo around 6 am to Mole National Park

Experience a walking safari around 7am-9am, Breakfast immediately after the safari, and around 10:30 am, experience a community tour which consists of a tour of the Larabanga Mosque and mystic stone, then proceed to the Mognori eco-village for a canoe safari, after which you will have a Shea butter processing lesson.

Then back to the park to relax.

(End of day tour). Overnight stay at Zaina Lodge.

Day 3

Take the day for relaxation and start a game drive around 3:30pm - 5:30pm

Overnight stay at Mole motel.

Day 4

Checkout from Mole motel around 12pm for a drop off to Tamale airport to catch up with 5pm flight to Accra (Passion Air). End of tour.

Mole National Park

Mole National Park offers a unique opportunity to encounter elephants and other big game on foot and up close. It is Ghana’s top destination for seeing wildlife and is home to 93 species of mammals, including herds of elephant, buck and a wide range of bird life (approximately 300 species). Here, you can have can have a rich cultural experience.

Mole River

The Mole River is an ideal river for canoeing. Dense forest borders the waterway along most of the trail with the only mark of civilization being an occasional pasture land. A house is rarely visible from the river. The river is one of the few that flow through the park and is a lifeline to the communities and the fauna alike.

Imagine being squeezed into smooth-flowing narrows between the high banks, interrupted by the occasional elephant or warthog. The floodplain abounds in wildlife of all kinds from antelope to wild hogs. Waterfowl, herons, egrets, ibis, greater kingfisher, malachite kingfisher, and many other kinds of birds are abundant throughout the course of this trail.
