During this two-day safari, you'll be accommodated for one night in a dome tent with two single beds, at Pretoriuskop Rest Camp.

Pretoriuskop is the oldest rest camp in Kruger National Park. The design and layout of the camp, as well as the style of the accommodation, easily give away the age of the camp. But although it has a rich and interesting history, Pretoriuskop has been brought up to date and it remains a very popular camp for overnight guests.

One of the most memorable styles of accommodation that you’ll find in the camp are the huts. They are beautifully laid out in circles, giving you a sense of community within the camp. There are 30 huts available and they sleep between two to six people. These huts have no bathrooms or kitchens. Instead, you will need to rely on the communal facilities.

It is always important to remember where you are. You are in the Kruger and it is wild even if the camp is seemingly calm. You need to keep your eyes open at all times for some of the other creatures which often sneak into the camp unseen. When walking anywhere, be on the lookout for snakes, spiders, and scorpions. They’ll generally stay well out of your way but it’s best to always be aware of what is around you.

  • Accommodation level: Budget

Facilities

  • A few wilderness trails surrounding the camp
  • A licensed restaurant and cafeteria known to offer refreshing, affordable meals
  • A stunning natural rock pool for guests to cool off during the summer months
  • A variety of different accommodation units fit with modern furnishings and basic amenities

Program

Day 1: Nelspruit or White River - Kruger National Park

You'll leave Nelspruit or White River really early in the morning (05:15) and get transferred to the world-renowned Kruger National Park. You'll enjoy at least eight hours of game viewing in the open safari game viewing vehicles with a registered guide. Kruger is home to 147 mammals (including the Big Five), 114 reptiles, and 502 bird species.

You'll take breaks in the various camps and picnic spots along the way in order to stretch your legs and grab a bite to eat (own cost). After an exciting eight hours of game viewing, African Bushveld exploration, and education, you'll drive to the camp situated on the south-western side of Kruger National Park. Dinner will be served under the African Night skies at the camp.

Day 2: Kruger National Park

You'll wake up before sunrise to depart on your second early morning drive. After breakfast, you’ll take a few minutes to stretch yourself before jumping into an open vehicle for your last game drive. Your guide will assist you by pointing out African wildlife and informing you about the indigenous trees and the geology of this magnificent country.

Enjoy a relaxed breakfast and lunch (own cost) in one of the Kruger National Park’s camp before continuing your search for South Africa’s Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo). You’ll also get some time to cool off in the swimming pool or snooze under a tree after lunch. The drive will continue till late afternoon and you’ll be transferred back to your lodge.
