Meet the professional tour guide in Arusha town, who will deliver a short safari info briefing. Afterwards, you will travel to the Lake Manyara National Park. You will arrive in time for lunch at the lodge. After lunch, you will head into the Lake Manyara National Park. This impressive park is one of Tanzania's most dramatically located wildlife areas, consisting of a massive but a shallow soda lake, which is covering two-thirds of the park, at the foot of the Great Rift Valley's western escarpment.
The park's varied habitat attracts a wide variety of animals, including one of Africa's largest concentrations of elephants, Manyara's famous tree-climbing lions, as well as large flocks of flamingos attracted by the algae in the lake. Dinner and overnight at Lake Manyara Wildlife Lodge.
After breakfast, you will descend 600 meters into this magnificent crater for a morning, half-day game drive. Ngorongoro Crater is one of the most densely crowded African wildlife areas in the world and is home to an estimated 30,000 animals, including some of Tanzania's last remaining, black rhino. Supported by year-round water supply and fodder, the Ngorongoro National Park supports a vast variety of animals, which include herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, and giant African elephants.
Another big draw card to this picturesque national park is the dense population of predators, which include lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs and the ever-elusive leopard, which sometimes requires a trained eye to spot. You will enjoy a picnic lunch in the crater, then travel back to Arusha where you will end your African safari adventure. The group should tip the tour guide around 20 USD a day for all the safaris. You will be taken to your hotel, which ends your safari packages services.
During the safari, you will visit Lake Manyara and Ngorongoro Crater to see the abundant wildlife.
This safari will take place in Lake Manyara National Park and Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania.
Looking down from the Western Rift Wall along the road to Ngorongoro and Serengeti, it is easy to see why Lake Manyara National Park was once described as the emerald of Africa. The lake shimmers below the heat haze, and it is home to flamingos, pelicans, and innumerable water birds. Between the lake and the rift, the park, with one main road and several loops, stands out the luscious greens that contrast with the arid, brown, and windswept countryside.
Lake Manyara National Park is renowned for its tree-climbing lions. The most likely explanation why they do so is unknown is that, they climb into the branches to getaway from the unwelcomed attention of flies and large mammals that may threaten them. Lake Manyara National Park is a habitat of animals such as elephant, buffalo, tree-climbing lions, hippopotamus, impala, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, bushbuck, leopard, baboon, flamingoes, cobra, and more.
From the viewing point hundreds of meters above Ngorongoro Crater, the panorama spreads out in a vast arena. The hills rise smoothly from the crater floor through evergreen forests, and rain clouds cascade over the eastern rim.
Zebra and wildebeest mix on the crater floor along with some 50 lions, 400 spotted hyenas, grant and Thompson gazelles, various types of jackal, greater and lesser flamingos, and many other species. Ngorongoro has some 25,000 animals, making this the most intensive game-viewing area on earth.
Ngorongoro Crater is a habitat of animals such as wildebeest, zebra, gazelles, black rhinoceros, lion, spotted hyena, hippopotamus, buffalo, elephant, mountain reed buck, leopard, serval, ostrich, kori bustard, papilio sjoestedti, and more. Many archeological and paleontological sites are also available here, such as Olduvai Gorge, Laetoli, Lake Ndutu, shifting sand, Maasai and Datoga ritual sites, and rock paints at Loolmalasin and Makarot.
