Day 1 - Nairobi to Amboseli (approximately four hours drive)

At 6:00 a.m., you will be picked up from the airport by one of the representatives and taken to Amboseli National Park, located to the southeast of Nairobi. The park is famous for its big game and scenic beauty with the landscape dominated by Mount Kilimanjaro. It offers an interesting contrast with its dry and dusty appearance, which can be attributed to the volcanic ash that came out of Mount Kilimanjaro when it last erupted.

In spite of the appearance, there is a continuous supply of water that gets filtered through volcanic rocks from Kilimanjaro's melted snow. These streams flow underground, creating lush green areas, and converge at two clear water springs in the park. Upon arrival, you will have your lunch, relax, and later enjoy your evening game drive. All meals and overnight will be at Sentrim Amboseli Camp.

Day 2 - Amboseli

You will spend a further day in the park on a full day game viewing drive with a picnic lunch. The wildlife here includes the zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, impala, caracal and serval cat, lion, leopard, cheetah, and buffalo among others. There are also over 400 species of birds, including the bee-eater, kingfisher, African fish eagle, martial eagle, and pygmy falcon.

You will mainly come to watch the huge herds of elephants. The bull elephants have some of the largest tusks in all of Kenya. You can also enjoy excellent views of Mount Kilimanjaro and Meru. You will enjoy your meals and stay overnight at Sentrim Amboseli Camp.

Day 3 - Amboseli to Mount Kenya (approximately seven hours drive)

After the breakfast, you will join a morning drive to Mount Kenya National Park via Nairobi and the fertile Central Highlands, reminiscent of the English countryside and thus favored by the original settlers for their country homes, until reaching the Serena Mountain Lodge for the lunch. You will experience game viewing opportunities while combining a glorious panorama of mountain vistas with the primordial splendors of an ancient rainforest.

You will awake to the trumpeting of elephant, fall asleep to the symphony of the African night, or sit in stillness and observe the fascinating interplay of the animals as they arrive to drink, bathe, spar, and forage around the waterhole. Your dinner and overnight will be at Serena Mountain Lodge.

Day 4 - Mount Kenya to Samburu (approximately four hours drive)

This morning, you will drive further north of Kenya to Samburu Game Reserve which is within the land of the colorful Samburu people, close relatives of the Maasai, and harbors a number of wildlife species found only north of the equator. It offers unique vistas of rounded and rugged hills and undulating plains. The mix of wood and grassland with riverine forest and swamp is the home to a wide variety of animal and birdlife.

Your lunch is served at the lodge and later in the afternoon, you will proceed with a game viewing drive until the sunset. You will have your dinner and stay overnight at Simba Samburu Lodge.

Day 5 - Samburu

After the breakfast, you will spend the day in the reserve where game viewing and visibility is excellent. The birdlife is superb with over 380-recorded species and game which includes reticulated giraffes, Grevy’s zebras, elephants, oryx, Somali ostrich, hippos, crocodiles, gerenuk, buffaloes, lions, leopards, cheetahs, and hyenas. The long-necked gerenuk is a graceful antelope which spends much of its time in a bi-pedal stance seeking succulence among the withered scrub which dots this harsh terrain.

Scenically, for most of the year, Samburu is under the unsympathetic equatorial sun. Relief comes from the Ewaso Ng’iro River which rises some hundreds of kilometers to the west on the foothills of the Aberdares and vanishes beyond Samburu in the recess of the Lorian Swamp. All meals and overnight will be served at Simba Samburu Lodge.

Day 6 - Samburu to Lake Nakuru (approximately six hours drive)

After your breakfast, you will take a morning drive via Thompson’s falls down the floor of the Great Rift Valley to Lake Nakuru National Park, a protected game sanctuary for endangered species such as the black or white rhino, Rothschild giraffe among other usual game such as the leopard and lion. You will have your lunch at the camp followed by an afternoon game drive until the sunset. You will have your dinner and stay overnight at Lake Nakuru Lodge.

Day 7 - Lake Nakuru to Maasai Mara (approximately six hours drive)

After breakfast, you will travel to Maasai Mara Game Reserve, named to mean the "spotted plains" in Mara language. This is home to the greatest concentration of large mammals and is widely recognized as Africa’s ultimate wildlife reserve. The park is the northern extension to the vast Serengeti-Mara ecosystem, famous for its annual migration of wildebeest.

This is a spectacular place of breathtaking sceneries, never-ending plains and the most abundant variety of wildlife remaining anywhere in the world. The landscape is made up of rolling savannahs dotted with patchy shrubs and bush thickets. All meals and overnight will be at Sentrim Mara Camp.

Days 8 - Maasai Mara

During your stay, you have the opportunity to explore this great reserve in depth. You may see elephants, giraffes, prides of lion, and thousands of impala, topi, grants and Thomson's gazelle. Birds are prolific including immigrants, 450 bird species have been recorded among them 57 birds of prey. The Mara is the scene of the annual migration of millions of wildebeest up from the Serengeti plains in search of water and grasses.

While in Mara, you will have the option to float above the Mara-Serengeti ecosystem on board a hot air balloon followed by a gourmet champagne breakfast. You can also visit a Maasai tribal village and enjoy entertainment by Maasai dancers (optional at an extra cost). All meals and overnight will be served at Sentrim Mara Camp.

Day 9 - Maasai Mara to Nairobi for departing (approximately six hours drive)

After the breakfast, you will take a morning drive back to Nairobi to arrive in time for the lunch on your own account. Later, you are transferred to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) for your outbound flight.

The safari will take place at Amboseli National Park, Mount Kenya National Park, Samburu Game Reserve, Lake Nakuru National Park, and Maasai Mara Game Reserve in Kenya.

Amboseli National Park

Amboseli National Park lies in the northwest at Mount Kilimanjaro on the Kenyan border with Tanzania. The park covers 392 square kilometers and forms part of the much larger 3,000 square kilometer Amboseli eco-system. Large concentrations and variety of wildlife inhabit this arid savanna make Amboseli a popular tourist destination. Amboseli is the place where you can watch elephants with the snow-capped Kilimanjaro as the background.

Mount Kenya National Park

Climbing to 5,199 meters, Mount Kenya is the second tallest mountain in Africa. The scenery surrounding this designated World Heritage Site is breath-taking. It is pristine wilderness with lakes, tarns, glaciers, dense forest, mineral springs, and a selection of rare and endangered species of animals, high altitude adapted plains game, and unique montane and alpine vegetation. You can enjoy mountain climbing, camping, and caving with the mountain’s rugged glacier-clad peaks providing the perfect backdrop.

Maasai Mara Game Reserve

The Maasai Mara is a large game reserve in southwest Kenya. The name is derived from the Maasai people and the Mara River which divides it into eastern and western parts. The extensive savanna grassland in between the rolling hills hosts a large variety of wild animals. Every year about two and a half million wildebeests and hundred thousands of zebras wander through the Masai Mara between the months of June and October on their great migration between the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania and Masai Mara in Kenya.

This spectacle has recently been declared the seventh natural world wonder. Maasai Mara is a permanent home to lions, leopards, cheetahs, black rhinos, elephants, buffaloes, hippos, crocodiles, giraffes, antelopes, and around 400 species of birds among many others.
