Nestled between the peaks of Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru lies Arusha town. Next door to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), the little town of Arusha is the gateway to your safari and the perfect introduction to the gracious personality of Tanzania.

Shopping, cultural interactions, hiking, and sightseeing opportunities abound here. Arusha is the launch pad and closure point for a safari in Tanzania, and thus the place where one's safari adventures both begin and end.

Tarangire National Park

A hidden jewelry two hours from Arusha, Tarangire covers an area of 2600 square kilometers and named for the life-giving Tarangire river that flows through its core. Tarangire National Park is Tanzania's fifth largest park.

Most famous for giant baobab trees towering the heard of elephant, this park hosts an annual "mini-migration" of sorts and offers the perfect setting for photography. During the dry season, huge masses of animals stream into the park for its perennial water supply.

Lake Manyara National Park

Just after the southern entrance gate is the ground water forest. This jungle-like forest support the highest population of baboons in Africa. The ground water from Ngorongoro highland feed directly above the Manyara basin, a dense evergreen forest of mahogany trees, wild date palms, and giant fig trees thrives here.

The forest is home to three species of primates including the vervet monkey, blue monkey, and baboon. The elevated walkway around the visitors center at the park gate is the best spot to see the stunning blue monkey.

Lake Ndutu

At the heart of the south Serengeti lies the world famous Ndutu. Offering consistently the best wildlife viewing during the green season, Ndutu is strategically situated at the center of the southern plains although the immediate area is blanketed with a forest of acacia trees.

Since the 1960s, Ndutu had been a favorite destination for many distinguished authors, filmmakers, and wildlife biologists. Researchers Jane Goodall and Hugo van Lawick used Ndutu as a base for much of their research.

Ngorongoro crater

Approximately 20,000 animals take haven in 'Africa's Garden of Eden'. The Ngorongoro Crater is a world heritage site, the world's largest intact volcanic caldera and is commonly referred to as the 8th wonder of the world. The 2,000 feet high walls of the approximately 10-mile wide crater form a natural amphitheater for the densest populations of large animals anywhere. The crater is truly awe-inspiring and game viewing here is among the very best Africa has to offer.
