Come and join the Lights on Africa Destinations and Safaris team in this holiday program designed for those who have a limited time to explore Tanzania's national parks. On this wildlife tour, you will have the opportunity to visit the famous areas of Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Crater. See amazing animal and plant life, and enjoy breathtaking scenery and comfortable accommodations. What are you waiting for? Book your tour now and get ready for a truly wondrous vacation.
For the first night, you will stay at the Serengeti Acacia Camps. For the second night, you will stay at the Rhino Lodge. Accommodation is based on two persons sharing a twin room or tent. Where possible, rooms with private baths are requested. Single rooms are available at an additional cost but cannot be guaranteed. Venues are named as an indication of category and rooms may be reserved at similar venues. Avoid alterations by booking in advance to reserve the rooms.
Ideally located on the edge of the Ngorongoro Crater rim, this lodge offers a perfect base from which to explore the crater and its surrounding area. With 24 comfortable, en-suite rooms, a cozy living space, friendly local staff, and generous, African-inspired meals, the Rhino Lodge welcomes its guests to Africa's most remarkable game park.
All guest rooms have a veranda overlooking a stretch of high, montane forest. Each room has its own shower, toilet, and hand basin. To keep away the cold, each room has a wood-burning stove, and hot-water bottles can be filled if you want one. In the bar/dining room, there are two large fires which are a natural focus for guests to meet and exchange stories of the day. You can also enjoy the view and nearby wildlife from the outside terrace behind the restaurant.
This intimate safari camp offers guests the perfect blend of old, African charm and elegance in the heart of the Serengeti National Park. It is tucked beneath an acacia tree and has breathtaking views of the savanna plains of the park. In this camp, you can experience full luxury in the wild. It has 10 canvas tents that are all furnished with en-suite bathrooms, flush toilets, and other essential amenities.
These tents have paved pathways that connect them to the centralized lounge and dining areas, which are located under a soaring canopy of acacias in front of the camp. The en-suite options include a double tent which is ideal for couples, a family tent which is ideal for two adults and two kids, and a triple tent which is perfect for groups of three.
After breakfast at 8 a.m., depart from Arusha with your packed lunch and a game drive en-route to the great Serengeti plains via the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. After lunch on the way, proceed with a game drive en-route to the Seronera area. Enjoy an evening game drive then proceed later to the Serengeti Acacia Camps for dinner and an overnight stay.
You will wake up early in the morning for a game drive in Serengeti, then go back to the camp for breakfast. Afterwards, you will pack your equipment and have a game drive en-route to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, complete with packed lunch. Later on, you will proceed to the crater rim for your dinner and overnight stay at the Rhino Lodge.
After breakfast, you will drive with your lunchbox to the Ngorongoro Crater and descend into its floor for game viewing. The famous crater is rich with wildlife and each specie has its own territory. Your packed lunch will be served on the crater floor at the picnic site near the Lerai forest or hippo pool. Many crater visitors want to see rare animal species like the black rhinoceros. Later in the afternoon, ascend the crater and drive back to Arusha for your onward arrangement.
You will have the chance to visit and admire the wild game in Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Conservation Area. While in Ngorongoro, you will also visit the famous crater.
This area encompasses the Ngorongoro Crater, Embagai Crater, Lake Masek, and Olduvai Gorge, which is famous for its paleontological relics. The Ngorongoro Crater is home to a small number of black rhinoceroses. It also sustains a huge population of ungulates and has the most concentrated numbers of lions known. However, there are an estimated 30,000 animals living in the crater. Encounters with animals are frequent and there is a wide variety of game.
These include lions, elephants, rhinos, buffaloes, Thomson's gazelles, wildebeests, and zebras. You are likely to see ostriches as well. Lake Magadi, the soda lake at the crater floor, is also home to thousands of flamingos. There are also dive-bombing kites that are recognized for their skill of snatching visitors' food at the Lerai forest, which is a good place for picnic lunches.
This park is, perhaps, most well-known for the annual migration that takes place across its great savanna plains. This is a phenomenal sight as there are thousands upon thousands of animals, particularly wildebeests, as far as the eye can see. During the rainy season (from November to May), the wildebeests, whose population has been estimated at around 1,500,000, are found in the eastern section of the Serengeti and also in the Maasai Mara National Reserve in Kenya to the north.
When the dry season begins at the end of June, the annual migration commences as the animals move in search of food pasture. The Serengeti is also famous for cheetahs, leopards, and lions, some of which migrate with the wildebeests while others remain in the central plains.
All three daily meals are included in the price of this retreat. You will be pleasantly surprised by both the quality and the variety of the food available on safari. In most lodges, meals are served buffet-style so you can choose what you like. The food is prepared according to western tastes, with some curries and local cuisine included. Bottled mineral water is provided during game drives and in campsites, and you can purchase quality bottled water at all accommodation venues.
Therefore, please do not drink water from the taps. On another note, special dietary requirements, such as vegetarian or diabetic meals, can be easily arranged with advanced notice. If you are vegetarian or vegan, you may wish to bring some alternative protein sources. If you have multiple food allergies, you'll definitely want to bring supplementary snacks. It is important that Lights on Africa Destinations and Safaris know of any possible dietary restrictions as soon as possible.
You can capture photos of the sights and scenery, enjoy the game drives, explore the surroundings, meet and interact with the locals, relax at your accommodation, and see the stunning views and wildlife. But if you're feeling more adventurous, Lights on Africa Destinations and Safaris can help you organize optional activities at an extra cost.
En-route to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area on the tour's second day, you can opt to stop over at the Olduvai Gorge, a historical site where the early man was believed to have lived. You can also visit the nearby Maasai bomas if you are interested in the real African life, tradition, and culture.
Please book your flight to arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). Transfer from and to this airport is available upon request.
