Tanzania safari tours of LEM Carnivores Tours are made for exceptionally memorable and intimate honeymoons, as well as the most treasured family holidays. A true treat for animal lovers, bird-watchers, nature lovers, and anyone who appreciates a little luxurious pampering.

In this safari, you will drive to Arusha National Park after breakfast for some game viewing and some relaxed game walking safari. This beautiful park is located only 32 kilometers (20 miles) northeast of Arusha. It covers an area of 137 square kilometers (58 square miles) and is known as "Serengeti ndogo" meaning "little Serengeti".

The peaks of Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru surround the park and can be seen on a clear day. Additionally, it is the only park with seven alkaline lakes where you will be able to go canoeing from 14:00 to 16:00. The black and white Colobus monkey is the park's mascot and can be seen swan-diving from branch to branch. The park also contains blue monkeys, olive baboons, elephants, hippos, leopards, hyenas, zebras, and antelopes. The park is famous for its 400 species of migrant and resident birds.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arusha

You will stay in Arusha before starting your tour.

Day 2: Arusha - Tarangire National Park

On this day, you will drive from Arusha city to one of the largest Tanzanian parks, Tarangire National Park, for a game drive. It will take about 2 hours (120 kilometers) to reach the national park. You will have a picnic in the park followed by an afternoon game drive. The park is well known for its varied landscape, which is scattered with huge knotted baobab trees and home to herds of elephants, lions, leopards, zebras, wildebeests, and antelopes. You will stay overnight at the Lush Garden Hotel.

Day 3: Tarangire National Park - Lake Manyara National Park

Today, you will drive from Tarangire National Park to a small but very diverse Lake Manyara National Park located at the edge of the Great Rift Valley. After a game drive through the forest inhabited by monkeys, antelopes, and birds, you will have a picnic lunch in the park and an afternoon game viewing; a great opportunity to see its marvelous concentration of game, including 350 species of birds.

Not to mention, the glistening soda lake itself is where you will catch glimpses of grazing flamingoes. If you are lucky enough, you will have the chance to spot tree-climbing lions. Later, you will stay overnight at Roika Tented Lodge with an excellent panoramic view.

Day 4: Lake Manyara National Park - Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, you will start on your way to Serengeti National Park and a picnic lunch will be provided. On the way, you will stop at the Olduvai Gorge museum with artifacts from Olduvai Gorge where anthropologists Louis and Mary Leaky made many significant discoveries contributing to the theory that human life originated in Africa. In the afternoon, you will go on a game drive at Serengeti National Park. You will stay overnight at Lake Manyara Wildlife Lodge.

Day 5: Serengeti National Park

This day will include a full day of game drive around Serengeti. The Serengeti is the best-known wildlife sanctuary in the world and boasts many species of plain animals from hares to the elephant. The name Serengeti comes from the Maasai language referring to an endless plain depending on the time of the year and the migration of the herds.

You can expect to see wildebeests, lions, elephants, giraffes, leopards, cheetahs, a lot of antelopes, hippos, and others. Today, you will stay overnight at Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge.

Day 6: Serengeti National Park - Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Today, you will go for an early game drive. If you’re lucky, you will be able to see some cats like lions, lionesses, leopards, cheetahs, etc. returning from hunts or some actions of them. You will drive back around 10:30 to put down tents and pack. Then, you will have a nice meal before departing. You will also do more game drive on your way to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

Optionally, you can pay a visit to Maasai boma if you are interested. Stay overnight at Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge again which is located on the rim of the crater.

Day 7: Ngorongoro Conservation Area - Manyara

After breakfast, you will go on an adventurous drive into the crater for a wonderful game drive and a picnic lunch next to the lake. Ngorongoro Crater belongs to the world heritage sites and it’s a must to see. As very few animals migrate in and out of the crater floor, Ngorongoro Crater has the highest diversity of animals worldwide.

Among of the species are lions, cheetahs, zebras, hippos, flamingos, jackals, hyenas, and black rhinos. After the game drive, you go back up to the camp, pack your things, and drive out to stay overnight at Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge.

Day 8: Ngorongoro Crater - Arusha

After breakfast, you will go for a cultural tour around Mto Wa Mbu village; excellent possibility to learn about local people, their ways of living, and see how they make traditional drinks. You will walk up to the waterfall or you can walk up to Lake Manyara where you may get to see more animals and flamingos. You may take a walk back to the camp while your lunch will be waiting for you. After having your lunch, you will drive back to Arusha.

Please note that this safari can also be booked with an option to fly back to Arusha on your last day. You might want to consider this option if you need to fly out of Arusha. If you select a “fly back” option for this safari, you will stay at different lodges that are of comparable standards, but you will follow the same circuit as described above, with the difference being that your safari ends in the Serengeti from where your flight will depart.
