Etosha is one of the great wildlife sanctuaries of Africa. At more than 20,000 kilometers square, it is also one of Africa’s largest. Four of the African big five inhabit Etosha (lion, rhino, elephant, and leopard). Add the array of antelope and bird species, the Etosha waterhole can at times be simply breathtaking. Also enclosed in the park is a huge flat pan of about 5000 kilometers square; providing a backdrop of shimmering mirages.
Your accommodation will be at the Okaukuejo Restcamp or similar camping sites if unavailable. Okaukuejo Restcamp is situated only 17 kilometers from Anderson Gate, the southern entrance to the Etosha National Park. It is the oldest rest camp in the Etosha National Park and is now a five-star world-class resort.
Depart Windhoek early in the morning and drive via the town of Okahandja and Otjiwarongo to your lodge inside the park. Arrive in the late afternoon at the lodge where you will spend some time at the camp or the waterhole.
After an early breakfast, you will proceed for a game drive inside Etosha National Park. You will spend the day on a game drive towards the western and central sides of the park. As animals are mostly situated around the waterholes (especially in the winter months), you will visit various waterholes in the day. The waterholes support a rich diversity of animals; many of whom can often be seen together at the waterhole.
After a leisurely breakfast, you will go on a short game drive on your way out of the park. On the way back to Windhoek, you will stop in the small town of Okahandja to visit one of Namibia‘s largest woodcarving markets. Afterwards, you will drive to Windhoek. Your expected arrival is in the mid afternoon.
In this tour, you will be able to stop over at a woodcarving market.
This tour will take place in one of the largest national parks in Southern Africa: the Etosha National Park.
In the vast semi-arid area of North Central Namibia lies one of Africa’s best wildlife sanctuaries. Known locally as ‘the great white place’ and famous for the sheer numbers of animals that congregate around the numerous waterholes, Etosha is a paradise for birders and wildlife enthusiasts alike. For such a dry and parched land the amount of animals found here often surprises. At over 20 000km², it is also one of Africa´s largest parks, encompassing a saltpan so large it can be seen from space. The accessibility of the park makes it an ideal place for both self-drives and privately guided safaris.
For this tour, you will be served with daily meals as mentioned in the itinerary. Meals are cooked by your guide on the open fire. Let Lark Journeys Namibia know if you have any dietary requirements.
