During your stay, you will stay two nights at La Jangada Hostel on the arrival and departure days and another two nights at a comfortable and simple jungle hotel in Zacambu National Reserve or in a jungle camp to get closer to nature sleeping in hammocks with mosquito net.

In Zacambu, there are just a few families living, which dedicated themselves for the last 15 years receiving tourists from all over the world. Doing so, they adapted their houses in simple but more than a suitable way to make your stay comfortable. Enjoy beds with mosquito nets, a common area to relax, modest bathrooms and a simple but clean kitchen.

You could camp out in the forest if you are adventurous enough to do so. It definitely makes you feel the mystic of this place even more intense.

La Jangada

La Jangada is a small hostel (capacity for 15 people) located right in the center of Leticia in the Colombian Amazon region. It provides nice, clean and safe accommodation in a relaxing atmosphere. La Jangada offers room for any needs, from comfortable double rooms with bathroom to a spacious four-bed dormitory with balcony. There is a communal living room and a terrace. La Jangada has the best location. Everything you need such as food, communication, health, souvenirs or nightlife is in a short walking distance. This is the best location for any visitor willing to enjoy the vibrant city, full of colors and culture and for someone who wants to relax in a nice place and in a comfortable bed.

The hostel La Jangada hostel and tours has a capacity of 15 people. There are a room with private bathroom for 1 to 3 people, a room with private bathroom for 1 to 4 people, a mixed bedroom with capacity for 6 people, and a private room with shared bathroom for 1 to 2 people.


Arrival day

Arrival in Leticia. A person waits for you at the airport and guides you to the Hostal La Jangada. Enjoy welcome cocktail and a typical Indian food on the tour. Overnight at the hostel.

Tour Day 1

  • 07:30 Breakfast at the hostel La Jangada
  • 08:30 Departure from the Port of Leticia (Colombia) or Tabatinga (Brazil) by private boat to the Javari River. During this trip by river, you are observing many birds. You will also try to observe the lazy bear.
  • 11:30 Arrival to the Zacambu Natural Reserve where you leave the personal elements and backpacks and located in a room to spend the first night
  • 12:00 Lunch
  • 17:00 Sunset observation on the piranha lake
  • 18:30 Dinner
  • 20:00 Night walk inside the jungle to observe, nocturnal monkeys, nocturnal birds, insects such as tarantulas, scorpions, frogs, and others.
  • 22:00 Return to sleep in the jungle hotel in a bed

Tour Day 2

  • 07:30 Breakfast
  • 08:30 Day walk to know the timber and medicinal trees respected by the indigenous communities, to observe the lotus flower; observe monkeys monks and footprints of different animals whenever you enter the jungle the guide in a small ceremony asks permission for protection for all against animals and other deities existing in the jungle.
  • 10:30 Return to the departure and hydration site
  • 12:00 Lunch
  • 14:00 Sighting of pink and gray dolphins on the river Javari and Amazonas They are observed at a distance of 15 to 20 meters away.
  • 16:30 Swimming on the Javari river or the Amazon river with life vests for safety.
  • 18:30 Dinner
  • 20:00 Night outing by wooden boat to catch alligators by hand, observe nocturnal fish birds and some frogs
  • 21:30 Sleeping in the jungle in a hammock with mosquito net and a blanket to have more contact with nature

Tour Day 3

  • 07:30 Breakfast
  • 08:30 Visit a community called Aldea to observe the largest fish of freshwater scales called Pirarucu in Colombia and Paiche in Peru that measures approximately three meters long, some species of monkeys such as the Churuco, howler monkey, monkeys, monkeys, spider monkey, capuchin monkeys and other.
  • 11:00 Hydration and refreshment
  • 12:00 Lunch
  • 14: 00 Return to the city of Leticia
  • 17:00 Arrival to Leticia and the welcome cocktail welcome (caipirinha) typical drink of the border Colombia, Brazil, and Peru

The natural reserve of Zacambu is situated about three to four hours away from Leticia. The time differs depending on the season. In a private boat, you go downstream the Amazon River and then head upstream one of the most important Peruvian side arms of the Amazon in this region, the river Javari.


Staying in the lodge, you enjoy typical local dishes. If needed, La Jangada Hostel & Tours can adapt the food to special needs if requested in advance.
