This safari holiday will let you experience the great wildebeest migration in the impressive Serengeti. This safari itinerary combines wildlife and luxury tented lodges. With a professional English-speaking guide driving a vehicle which is well maintained to provide a maximum level of comfort and safety, this safari will be unforgettable. A safari makes you hungry but rest assured because three meals are provided each day. You don't want to miss it and you won't regret it.
Serian Kusini Camp is located in the Southwest Sector of the Serengeti in Northern Tanzania. It is a high specification mobile tented camp set in the quiet Kusini area in Southwest Serengeti. In addition to ensuite bathrooms with a flushing toilet and a shower, each tent has their own private veranda. The camp is remote making it the ultimate private African adventure. The camp allows guests to get as close as possible to the wildlife and provides guests with a personalized experience.
Serian, meaning “peaceful, calm, or serene” in the Maa language, aptly describes one's first impressions of this very exclusive luxury tented camp. Serian Kusini Camp is small, consisting of only six stylish safari tents situated in an idyllic location among towering Acacia Umbrella thorn trees in a remote section of the Western Serengeti. Here, people really get a real sense of feeling that they are the only ones sharing in this great wilderness.
Serian Kusini Camp offers an authentic safari experience with animals often passing through the camp. Unusually, all groups of guests are almost always offered a private vehicle when out on safari, which is very unusual for this type of camp and a big positive offer. The main potential downsides at Serian Kusini Camp are that the camp is relatively highly priced and there is a potential for adverse weather conditions.

Upon early morning arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you will be met by your host. At the airport, you will connect with your scheduled flight to Serengeti South airstrip where Serian Camp guides will meet you. Enjoy a game drive and game viewing until evening. Have dinner and stay overnight at Serian Kusini camp.
The early morning game drive reveals the very heart of the Serengeti’s magic, vast tracts of open grasslands stretching from horizon to horizon filled with wildebeests and their newborn calves. Undoubtedly, it's one of Africa’s most spectacular wildlife events. During a short two to three-week period, over 250,000 wildebeest calves are born and one might be lucky enough to witness and photograph one of these births.
This multitude of grazers supports a large number of predators such as lions, cheetahs, leopards, and hyenas, all of which are seen regularly here. You will also spend time searching for the rare and endangered Cape hunting dogs commonly known as “wild dogs”. These animals are so rarely seen today and any sightings or photographs of them are indeed priceless.
Game drives are in comfortable and well-outfitted four-wheel drive vehicles manned by experienced and knowledgeable local guides. Sumptuous picnic breakfasts and lunches are carried on board the vehicles together with all sorts of refreshments. Picnic stops are carefully planned by your guides to maximize the best views of the open plains and wildebeest migration. You then retire to your camp at sunset for a drink and a tale or two around an iconic African campfire followed by a candlelit dinner.
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) and then connect with your flight back home.

The Serengeti National Park is Tanzania’s most famous park and it is also the oldest one. It is believed to be one of the natural wonders of the world and to see the million wildebeest rhythmically and instinctively traveling together across the land is truly magical. Before the migration begins from Southern Serengeti, wildebeests mate and produce more than 8,000 calves daily. Their survival of the fittest in a migration is a 1,000-kilometer (600 miles) pilgrimage, battling crocodile-infested rivers as they travel north.
Besides the wildebeests, 200,000 zebras and 300,000 gazelles join in looking for food. This spectacle takes place from December to July. It’s important to bear in mind that the wildebeest migration route is unpredictable and to see it, you need a minimum of three days in two or three different locations in Serengeti during the migration season.
The Serengeti scenery is ever-changing. When the weather is hot and dry, the savannah is a dusty sunburnt red which is then transformed to lush, green grassland dotted with pretty wildflowers after the rains have visited. There are towering hills that stand tall over the grassland, with dotted termite mounds and sparkling flowing rivers with abundant fig and acacia trees standing tall and statuesque above them.
Note: The best time to visit the Serengeti is from December to July if you want to witness the wildebeest migration. Alternatively, visit from June to October to see predators.
Note: Kubwa Five Safaris strongly recommends that you book for an air balloon safari in advance to secure your place. The capacity is limited and this exclusive adventure is frequently fully booked.
