Check-out Time:

During this safari, you will be staying in an en-suite chalet at Skukuza Rest Camp. Skukuza Camp is the capital of Kruger National Park. It is the biggest camp and includes facilities such as a shop, ATM, internet cafe, restaurant, library, fuel station, and more. Activities, attractions, and facilities are diverse, as the animals and plants found both within Skukuza Rest Camp and the surrounding area.

Skukuza Camp is an excellent rest camp from which to pursue the Big 5 and birds in the vicinity. Lions are frequently spotted along this route. At night, look for the fruit bat that hangs under the eaves of the shop, and the thick-tailed bush baby climbing the trees in search of gum.

During your days in Cape Town, you will be accommodated in a standard room chosen by Kruger Park Travel for 2 days.

A fly in safari affords you a very unique opportunity to fly directly into the Kruger National Park and be picked up and transferred in an open vehicle to the camp. The time savings when compared to a road transfer from Johannesburg are in the region of 11 hours in total. The advantages are obvious and the flight is also scenic and operated by a professional long existing regional airline.

This is one of Africa’s most famous national parks. There are 147 mammal species found in Kruger, more than any other wildlife reserve in Africa. The Big 5 (lion, leopard, rhino, buffalo, and elephant) are of course included. On this safari, Kruger Park Travel includes open vehicle drives and a sunset drive. This safari gives you an amazing African wildlife experience.

Day 1: Johannesburg to the Kruger Park

You will depart in O. R. Tambo International Airport (JNB), heading in an easterly direction for a flight time of only 50 minutes.

You will be collected by your guide and transferred to Skukuza Camp, through the Kruger National Park, in an open vehicle. The transfer from the airport to the camp takes about 15 minutes and is a leisurely drive stopping for wildlife en route.

After settling into your accommodations (twin bed chalets with en-suite bathrooms), you will go out on your first game drive which is a South African National Parks sunset drive. A sunset drive affords you the opportunity to see nocturnal animals that are more active at night and the Park’s rangers are allowed to return after the normal gate closing times. Note that these drives take place in one of the Kruger Park’s vehicles with a Park’s ranger. This is not a private game drive and there may be other guests on this drive. (Children under 6 years of age are not permitted on open vehicle drives.)

Dinner is a 3 -course meal, served El Fresco at the private camp within Skukuza. Wine is served with dinner but you are welcome to bring along additional / alternative drinks which can be purchased at the shop.

Day 2 and 3: Morning and afternoon safari drives

Safaris are all about early mornings, getting out there, and seeing animals. The time you go on your game drive varies according to the seasons and camp gate opening times. You will have tea or coffee with muffins and fruit before departing on the game drive which will take approximately 3 - 4 hours. Your guide has an intimate knowledge of the park, which contributes a great deal towards brilliant sightings.

On returning to Skukuza, brunch will be ready at the camp. Then you have time to enjoy a swim, visit the Skukuza museum, visit the park shop which includes African curios, general food and drinks, take a walk around the camp, or simply relax at the viewing platform in front of the restaurant which overlooks the Sabie River. Be sure to bring your binoculars, Skukuza Rest Camp is also a bird watcher’s paradise.

After a siesta, you will set off on the afternoon Kruger Park game drive. All the games are driven in specially adapted 4x4 open game drive vehicles to allow you the best possible vantage point. You will share each other African safari stories at the camp fire under the stars after a scrumptious dinner served at the camp.

Day 4: Kruger Park to Cape Town

The sun rises on the final day in the Park and you have one last chance to find the animals that have eluded you this far. After breakfast, you are transferred back to Skukuza Airport (SZK) for your flight to Cape Town International Airport (CPT). The transfer to the airport will take about 15 minutes and your flight time to Cape Town is approximately 2 hours and 35 minutes. Upon your arrival in Cape Town, you will be collected and transferred to the Cape Town Lodge Hotel.

Day 5 and 6: Cape Town

These days will be spent at your own leisure in Cape Town and you can visit the many sights Cape Town has to offer such as Robben Island, Table Mountain Cableway, a wine farm, seal colony, or a day tour of the Cape Peninsula.

After a leisurely breakfast, you are expected to check out from the hotel by 10:00.
