Program

Day 1 - Johannesburg

Upon arrival in Johannesburg, you will be collected at the O.R. Tambo International Airport (JNB) and transferred to the hotel. You can check in and have time to relax before you will be collected for a Soweto township tour. You will be dropped off back at the hotel after the tour.

Day 2 - Johannesburg to Kruger National Park

You will be collected from your hotel by your guide and transferred to Skukuza Camp in the Kruger National Park. After settling into your accommodations (twin bed chalets with en suite bathrooms), you will go out on your first game drive which is a SAN PARKS sunset drive. A sunset drive affords you the opportunity to see nocturnal animals that are more active at night and the park’s rangers can return after the normal gate closing times.

Dinner is a three-course meal, served al fresco at the private camp within Skukuza. Wine is served with dinner, but guests are welcome to bring along additional or alternative drinks which can be purchased at the shop.

Day 3 and 4 - Morning and afternoon safari drives

Safaris are all about early mornings, getting out there, and seeing animals! The time you go on your game drive varies per the seasons and camp gate opening times. You will have tea or coffee with muffins and fruit before departing on the game drive, which will take approximately three to four hours. Your guide has an intimate knowledge of the park, which contributes a great deal towards brilliant sightings!

On returning to Skukuza, brunch will be ready at the camp. You will then have time to enjoy a swim, visit the Skukuza museum, visit the park shop which includes African curios, general food items and drinks, or take a walk around the camp.

After a siesta, you will set off on the afternoon Kruger Park game drive. All game drives are conducted in specially adapted 4x4 open game drive vehicles to allow the guests the best possible vantage point. You will share African safari stories at the camp fire under the stars after a scrumptious dinner served at the camp.

Day 5 - Kruger Park to Port Elizabeth

The sun rises over your final day in the park and you will have one last chance to find the animals that have eluded you thus far. After breakfast, you will be transferred back to Skukuza Airport for your flight to Port Elizabeth International Airport (PLZ). Upon your arrival in Port Elizabeth, you will be collected and transferred to the hotel where you will be spending the next two nights.

Day 6 - Port Elizabeth

Today is spent at your own leisure in Port Elizabeth. There are many things to do in and around the city, including boat, cultural, walking and city tours, or spend the day lazing at the beach.

Day 7 - Port Elizabeth to Addo Elephant Park

You will depart from Port Elizabeth at 9:00 a.m. and drive directly to the Addo Elephant Park. After a short drive, you will have lunch (at own expense) at the main rest camp and check into your accommodation. You will explore the park further in a tour vehicle to learn more about the unique ecosystem, which is home to a huge variety of wildlife, including the Big Five, as well as plains game, black backed jackal, tortoises, and dung beetles (who have right of way!).

Dinner is a two-course meal, prepared by your guide and served al fresco outside one of the chalets. Wine is served with dinner, but guests are welcome to bring along additional or alternative drinks, which can be purchased at the shop

Day 8 - Addo Elephant Park to Tsitsikamma

After an early wake-up call (the time varies per the seasons and park gate opening times), you will have tea or coffee and rusks (dried biscuits to be dunked in your coffee or tea). The morning safari will take approximately three to four hours, after which you will return to camp for breakfast.

The route will take you along the scenic coastal forests, lining the national highway en-route to Tsitsikamma, the jewel of the Southern Cape, in time for lunch (at own expense). After lunch, there is time to explore the beauty of the rare indigenous forest and impressive coastline on a hike to a waterfall. If you are lucky, you might spot the Cape's clawless otter hunting in the streams and surf.

Dinner is a two-course meal, prepared by your guide and served al fresco outside one of the cabins. Wine is served with dinner, but guests are welcome to bring along additional or alternative drinks which can be purchased at the shop.

Day 9 Tsitsikamma to Cape Agulhas

You will rise early for a morning hike in search of the beautiful but elusive Knysna Turaco and depart after breakfast and travel along the world-renowned Garden Route, past the picturesque coastal towns nestled in the lake and the lagoon region at the foot of the Outeniqua mountains.

You will stop for lunch (at own expense) en-route. These rolling grasslands are known to be home to the endangered Blue Crane and you may be fortunate enough to spot some of these beautiful birds.

After lunch, you will head to the exact point where the African continent sinks into the ocean and keep a sharp eye out for the Cape Grysbok in the fynbos or Cape fur seals and Dolphins playing in the surf. You will reach your overnight destination in time to appreciate one of the most spectacular sunsets in the world from the patios of the fisherman’s cottages, in sight of the ocean.

Dinner is a two-course meal, prepared by your guide and served al fresco outside one of the cottages. Wine is served with dinner, but guests are welcome to bring along additional or alternative drinks which should be purchased before entering the park.

Day 10 - Cape Agulhas to Cape Town

After a leisurely breakfast, you will start your final day’s journey along the Coastal Whale route, through one of the most scenic parts of our country. You will stop en-route in the town of Hermanus to have lunch (at own expense) and in the hope of spotting the Southern Right whales (seasonal) that visit this coast to breed.

After lunch, you will continue through the scenic fruit and wheat producing regions of the Overberg and Langeberg with beautiful views of False Bay, and eventually Table Mountain and Cape Town, being your destination. The plan is to arrive around 5:00 p.m. and you will be dropped off at the hotel, where you will be staying for the next four nights.

Day 11 to 13 - Cape Town

You will spend each day at your own leisure in Cape Town and visit the many sights Cape Town has to offer, such as Robben Island, Table Mountain Cableway, a wine farm, seal colony, or a day tour of the Cape Peninsula.

Day 14 - Cape Town

After a leisurely breakfast, you are expected to check out from the hotel by 10:00 am.
