Tremisana Game Lodge

Tremisana Game Lodge is the largest and leading lodge in Balule Nature Reserve, having a total of 15 chalets plus a two-bedroom guest house. It can accommodate a maximum of 40 guests. Every unit is en-suite (shower, toilet, basin) and all units are air-conditioned. Perhaps the most striking feature of Tremisana Game Lodge is the beautiful gardens. The presence of numerous bougainvilleas and various palms and cycads gives the camp a subtropical feel.

Marc's Treehouse Lodge

Marc’s Treehouse Lodge offers rustic but comfortable accommodation geared to put one in close contact with the sights, sounds, and scents of the wild. The treehouses are made of wood and reeds under thatch and blend harmoniously into the dense riverine vegetation.

The accommodation from the second night onwards is in wood cabins - “the Tree houses” with thatch roofs- which are on pedestals elevated from the ground, literally between the trees. Please note that the accommodation is not literally on top of a Tree Branch.

Creature comforts include electric fans, mosquito nets, and comfortable beds, with linen, towels, and soap provided. Each treehouse has its own private ablutions and has a viewing deck overlooking the perennial Klaserie River or the "breakfast" dam, where animals often come to drink.

It is important to note that this is not a private safari and more than likely there will be other guests joining you on the game drive vehicles, air-conditioned mini bus transfer vehicles, as well as in the dining facility.

Transfers from and to Greater Kruger National Park (Balule Nature Reserve) is in a 12 seat bus and game drives take place in open safari vehicles to offer the best possible game viewing experience. Vehicles are equipped to provide guests with highest possible levels of safety, comfort, and experience.

Itinerary

Day 1

You will travel via farmlands to the picturesque Lowveld and on to Tremisana Game Lodge in the Balule Section of the Kruger Park. After a short break, during which you may unwind at the bar, have a swim or relax in the tropical gardens, you will board the open Landcruiser for a 3-hour sunset drive and night drive. Your guide will show you various animals and birds and after darkness falls, you will use spotlights to locate nocturnal species. Dinner will be an unforgettable bush braai at the Marula Tree Boma. After dinner, you will continue the night drive and overnight in comfortable air-conditioned en-suite thatch-roofed chalets.

Day 2 - 3 (Balule Nature Reserve)

You will awaken at sunrise for an exhilarating day of unforgettable bush life. Then, drive to a remote part of the Balule Nature Reserve where you enjoy a 4-hour bush walk. Your experienced field guide will lead you through the bush. The thrill of following Africa’s Big Five until you can take a exhilarating close-up photo of a wild animal will remain with you forever. Adrenalin surges will be acute, notwithstanding the presence of your armed ranger. You will then return to Tremisana Game Lodge for brunch. At around 15:00, you will go on an afternoon game drive. You are then transferred to Marc’s Treehouse Lodge where accommodation is in fascinating and romantic treehouses.

Day 4 (Kruger National Park)

After a relaxing night at Marc’s Treehouse Lodge, you will travel to the Kruger National Park where you will board Kruger Park Tours' open game viewer. The absence of windows and elevated vantage position will allow for excellent photographic opportunities. You will have an amazing chance not only to view beautiful African wildlife, but also to listen to the African bush and its denizens and smell the clean air of nature.

There will be regular stops at picnic spots and rest camps. Your experienced ranger will show you the many hideouts and habitats of the animals, birds, and insects that live within this wildlife paradise. The Orpen / Satara region boasts open plains and supports large herds of zebra, giraffe, and antelope that attract numerous predators. In fact, the zones you will visit have the highest concentration of lions in Africa!

Day 5 (Panorama route tour)

You will enjoy an early morning bush walk accompanied by an armed ranger. You will then drive to the awesome Three Rondawels and the Blyde River Canyon. Then, return to Gauteng in the late afternoon to be transferred back to the airport.

On this safari, you will experience a Panorama route tour which includes driving to the awesome Three Rondawels and the Blyde River Canyon as well as Big 5 Drives in Private Game Reserves and Kruger Park. Bush walks also form part of the tour itinerary.

This safari will take you to Balule Nature Reserve and Kruger National Park in South Africa.

    Fake publicity

CONS Cons: Marc's treehouse. Publicity say that you are going to spend the night on a cabin on a tree and there is no cabin on a tree for any tourist. All of us expected that. The rooms are good, but not what publicity says.

PROS Pros: Tremisana lodge, food, kind workers

    5 Value for money
    5 Accommodation & facilities
    7.5 Food
    5 Location
    5 Quality of activity
    5 Overall impression

Organizer response: Dear Maria, Trust you are well. Thank you kindly for your feedback and we do appreciate it. Even though you expected a Cabin quite literally on a Tree branch, there are also some positive remarks you also made, such as good food and friendly staff. We do not agree with the fact that you feel you did not get what you expected (as we did include pictures in our replies to you when you inquired). This is the first time someone has complained about the accommodation not being what they expected, but perhaps that is because BookAllSafaris is a unique platform and one of your newest places of advertising (so we have not yet perfected all the information on here). We sincerely apologize if the accommodation is not what you felt you booked and we will take your feedback as a positive and add the following to our information: The accommodation from the second night onward is in wood cabins (“the Tree houses” with thatch roofs) which are on pedestals elevated from the ground (literally a house between the Trees). Please note: the accommodation is not literally on top of a Tree Branch. I hope you still had an amazing experience and enjoyed your stay! We would also love to welcome you again in the future. Thank you kindly, Kruger Park Tours

"This was an overall amazing experience. Rochelle made this honeymoon one we will never forget. She was very hands on and made sure every detail of our trip was beyond our expectations. Initially we were supposed to stay at Tremisana but we wanted something a little more luxurious so Rochelle moved us to Katakani. It was such a beautiful room. It was partially tented and had a treehouse feel but very luxury. The food was probably the best we had during our month stay in all of South Africa. I would recommend this whole experience from beginning to end. We are so grateful to have dealt with Rochelle. She was very hands on and delightful."

"It was our first time on a safari and it was a wonderful experience! We saw 3 of the big 5, but that was no big deal. We did see a rare black rhino as well. The best part was the surprise bush braai, which was really amazing!"

"My title above is no exaggeration, I had a perfect safari. Every aspect of my visit was perfect. From the help I received organizing my ideas and choosing the right safari for me, all the way to my ride back to Johannesburg from Kruger Park."

"I was lost with too many Safari options and speaking to several booking agents. I quickly became aware that Kruger Park Tours was going above and beyond what the others were doing for me. They spent weeks emailing, suggesting and quoting me despite my indecision. In the end they narrowed it down to the perfect Safari for me. For those curious, I did 4 nights and 5 days in hut. I went on 5 safari drives, 2 safari walks, and a scenic tour of other areas outside the park. I saw the big 5 many times over, and then some. The guides are terrific!! they know their wildlife and they know how to find it. They answered all of our questions with enthusiasm and a smile. It was truly and amazing experience to be out there. Then back in the camp the wonderful treatment just continued. We were so informed, so well fed. I mean really well fed! The food was terrific, my favorite was Kudu. The chef was great and food preparation and service was top notch and completely unexpected. I had thought I might be roughing it just a little, but it was not the case. A special thanks to Sello, Jeremiah and Kevin and the rest of the gang for making my Safari the best experience of my life. And, of course to Rochelle at Kruger Park Tours who made it all happen for me. Thank you everyone."

"Would definitely recommend booking a Safari through KPT's. Our agent (Rochelle) could not have been more helpful - she catered to all our requirements, constantly changing our itinerary as per our requests. While all the time maintaining a professional & friendly demeanour. Our tour was exactly what we wanted given the time frame we had. We were also extremely lucky to see the "Big 5" on our first day! We throughly enjoyed our experience at Thornhill Lodge - accommodation, food, amenities, staff & hospitality shown were all fantastic. The bush walks and the Safari itself were great, enjoyed every minute of it! Special shout out to our great guides who were so informative & entertaining. Could not fault KPT's - highly recommend & will continue to do so to anyone considering going to SA!"

"The Organisation, to start with, was very outstanding. Rochelle was fantastic, she found a way for everything, pick up at the Airport, Lodge in Johannesburg, pickup from there to the park.... and everything worked out very well. Nice People at the whole journey. "

"The service in Krueger Park was uncomplicated. Clean houses, tents and toilettes, (in the tent it becomes hot). The guides were very nice, eating fine and over all absolutely nothing to complain. We really loved staying there and will come again. Animals? yes! Great Adventure!"

  • Review by Marija Radujkovic-Jooste from Croatia

"My husband and I went to South Africa for the Christmas holidays and ended up staying 4 days in the accommodation supplied by Kruger Park Tours. A fully furnished 4 bedroom unit on a Macadamia nut farm. We were given the choice of all meals included or self-catering, but opted for all inclusive. Gastronomy unbelievable!! I don't know if Amarula cream is a gift from the gods or the ancestors or who ever but that stuff is out of this world."

"Went on several game drives throughout the course of our stay and everyone was more exiting than the previous one. Seeing lions in the wild was really special but the sight of a Rhino in its natural habitat is something I will never forget. From the Lisbon and Berlin falls to God's window, every kilometer traveled was an adventure."

"Johan and Rochelle were such magnificent hosts. Always willing to stop for cold refreshments and never ending patience in stopping at all the road stalls to look for souvenirs. Lovely touch that the owner is the one driving and leading the sight seeing. Sometimes guides can come across as cold. We enjoyed our stay an recommend it to anyone looking for a proper getaway from the city buzz."
