During the safari, you will be staying at Marc's Treehouse Lodge. Marc’s Treehouse Lodge offers rustic but comfortable accommodation geared to put one in close contact with the sights, sounds, and scents of the wild. The treehouses are made of wood and reeds under thatch and blend harmoniously into the dense riverine vegetation.
The accommodation is equipped with electric fans, mosquito nets, and comfortable beds with linen, towels, and soap. Each treehouse has its own private ablutions and a viewing deck overlooking the perennial Klaserie River or the “breakfast” dam, where animals often come to drink.
You will be picked up from your hotel in Gauteng or Johannesburg Airport. You will travel via the Highveld grasslands to the subtropical Lowveld. At Tremisana Game Lodge in the Balule section of the Kruger National Park, unwind at the bar, enjoy a refreshing dip in the pool and relax in the beautiful tropical gardens.
Board an open Landcruiser for a 3-hour sunset drive, your first opportunity to experience the varied fauna and flora of Africa. Watch the magnificent African sunset, and after dark, use spotlights to locate nocturnal animals. In the evening, you will join an unforgettable Bush Braai in the Marula Tree Boma, deep in the African bush. Continue the night drive after dinner and stay overnight in the comfortable en-suite chalet at Tremisana Lodge.
At sunrise, drive to a remote spot to enjoy a 4-hour bush walk. Your ranger will lead you through the bush at a pace you can handle. The thrill of following big animals will remain with you forever. Adrenalin surges will be acute, even if your ranger is adequately armed. After the bush walk, return to Tremisana for brunch. At around 15:00, you will enjoy an afternoon game drive. Then, you will transfer to Marc’s Treehouse Lodge where you will spend the night in a romantic and fascinating treehouse. In the evening, you will have dinner in the open Boma.
Drive to the Orpen Gate of Kruger on a custom-built open-sided game viewer. You will have an opportunity to view game without intervening glass windows and also listen to and smell the denizens of the bush. You will have regular stops at picnic spots, rest camps, and places of interest. The Orpen-Satara-Nwanedzi region’s open plains attract large herds of zebra, giraffe, and antelope that, in turn, attract many predators. In fact, this zone has the highest concentration of lions in Africa.
After breakfast, you will travel to the Moholoholo Rehabilitation Centre for injured and orphaned animals and birds. You will have an opportunity to get close and personal to some of the residents, including lions and leopards. After lunch, you will drive to Tremisana. At around 15:00, you will drive to the Big Five Tshukudu Game Reserve for an open vehicle game drive in this Big Five reserve. Then, you will return to Marc’s Treehouse Lodge for dinner and stay overnight.
To start the day, you can enjoy a sunrise walk in the area. After breakfast, drive via the Panorama Route to see the scenic splendors including the Three Rondawels and the Blyde River Canyon. Then, you will return to Gauteng in the late afternoon. Airport drop off by arrangement.
This safari takes place in Kruger National Park, Moholoholo Rehabilitation Centre, Tshukudu Game Reserve, and Blyde Canyon in South Africa.
