Detailed itinerary
Day 1
Kruger Park Africa Tours collects you from your accommodation in Johannesburg around 6 a.m. and transfers you to the shuttle service at OR Tambo International Airport (shuttle service at own cost).
Shuttle service departs in an air-conditioned bus to Hoedspruit. You will pass through the picturesque Mpumalanga farmlands en route to your lunch destination in Hoedspruit (client’s that fly into Hoedspruit Eastgate airport will be collected).
After lunch (at own cost), you proceed to your first overnight accommodation at Bongan African Lodge in an African Village near the Manyeleti Reserve.
Upon arrival, the dedicated staff will welcome you and show you to your chalets, where you can relax for a while. Your first official safari experience will commence shortly after settling into your accommodation – the Sunset Drive. Enjoy as the last rays of the gorgeous light bathe the African bushveld in vivid reds, yellows, and pinks (hint: the lighting will add a romantic element to your photographs!). The Sunset Drive allows you the unique experience of spotting some nocturnal creatures that ordinarily are hidden during the day – watch out for eyes glowing in the dark!
Return to the Bongan African Lodge for a delicious dinner around 7 p.m. – where the day’s adventures can be shared over a warm meal. Stay overnight in your comfortable chalet.
Day 2
Wake up early and enjoy a packed breakfast on your way to your entire day game viewing experience in the Kruger National Park. Searching to see the Big 5! Dinner will be served from 7:30 p.m. in the Bongan boma.
Day 3
After breakfast, your guide will take you to the Funjwa Children’s School, where your first day of engaging in community projects begins. This provides an educational opportunity to immerse yourself in the local children’s way of life, ideal for the humanitarian traveller wishing to learn, grow, and participate. Community service projects include:
- Reading books to the students
- Environmental education (climate change, eco-awareness, wildlife conservation, etc.)
- Assisting in planting a self-sustaining vegetable garden
- Painting classrooms
- Assisting in sports activities / extracurricular entertainment (games and challenges)
- English language skills
- Assisting in cooking meals for the children
Day 4
After breakfast, continue with your community service projects. Enjoy an afternoon game drive in the Manyeleti Reserve or Kruger Park. Keep your eyes peeled, and your cameras ready as your guide takes you on yet another immersive game-viewing experience.
Day 5
Panoramic tour for the day. Depart after breakfast. Visit Three Rondawels, Bourkes Potholes, God’s Window, and Mac Mac Falls.
Day 6
An early game drive in Manyeleti / Kruger Park. After breakfast at 10 a.m., they transfer you to your shuttle service in Hoedspruit who will the take you to OR Tambo International Airport.
Location
This safari will have you on game drives in Kruger National Park and Manyeleti Game Reserve, as well as doing community work at Funjwa School.

Enjoy hearty, home-cooked meals partly inspired by local African cuisine. Please inform Kruger Park Africa Tours of any specific dietary requirements and they will happily oblige.

Kruger Park Africa Tours will collect you at your accommodation in Johannesburg and transfer you to O. R. Tambo International Airport (JNB), where you will join the shuttle service (Safari Link or Swift). You will be transferred to Hoedspruit. On arrival in Hoedspruit, you will be met by one of the safari guides and start your Kruger Park Safari.
Shuttle transfer from Hoedspruit - O. R. Tambo International Airport (JNB):
On the last day of your safari, the guides will drop you at the shuttle service in Hoedspruit. The shuttle service will transfer you to O. R. Tambo International Airport (JNB). Free transfers are offered from Johannesburg accommodations to the shuttle service at O. R. Tambo International Airport (JNB) prior to your tour. Return transfers from the shuttle service at O. R. Tambo International Airport (JNB) available on request.
Please note: Shuttle transfer costs are excluded from the safari package and will be charged for over and above (approximate rate: 1,850 ZAR return). Kruger Park Africa Tours will arrange transfer reservations.

You can book your flight to Hoedspruit (departure time no later than 12:50, for arrival at Eastgate Airport, Hoedspruit by 13:45). On arrival in Hoedspruit, you will be met by one of the safari guides and start your Kruger Park Safari.
Flights from Hoedspruit - O. R. Tambo International Airport (JNB):
Departure from Eastgate Airport, Hoedspruit (departure time no later than 14:20 for arrival at O. R. Tambo International Airport (JNB) by 15:25).
Please note: Flight costs are excluded from the safari package and will need to be booked in person (approximate rate: 3,000 - 4,000 ZAR dependent on date). Flight times can be confirmed upon reservation of safari tour.
Cancellation Policy
- A reservation requires a deposit of 50% of the total price.
- The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
